******s, oh well.

you came to a club, not to a restaurant.. thats what people do, go wild at parties. i was dancing by the stage as well, and NO ONE told dumonde to fuck off. and someone earlier was talking about anti-semetism for some unknown reason... dont talk shit if you got something against israelis/jews, and if you gonna say something then get your facts straight.. everyone complains about everything... ill bring my first aid kit next time just in case more feathers hit you.
someone spilled a beer on me by mistake.. so what? am i gonna cry now? just enjoy the party and have fun instead of bitching all the time.

Sets:

Addy & Deko-Ze: I missed Dekoze, but Addy's was the only good set I've heard so far from him, and it was a VERY good warmup. I'm definitely going to give him another chance after that - fine work.

Dave Ralph: BORED ME TO TEARS. I think he threw two or three decent tracks for his opening, and the rest of the set proceeded to just kill my buzz completely. He played a bunch of flat, soulless prog and some very mediocre breaks tunes & remixes. Honestly, all I could hear throughought his entire set was the kicks, hi-hats, and what might as well have been white noise in between. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I've just never had my energy sucked away so fast before.

Infected Mushroom: Excellent performance! It was probably not quite as energetic as the last time they performed in Kool Haus, but they seemed to know the sound system better this time, as it was all very crisp and clean sounding. They dropped several tracks from Converting Vegetarians, including some "harder" remixes of the chillout tunes on CD 2. Sorry, I don't have specific IDs, but overall I found it a very enjoyable set showing plenty of creativity.

Dumonde: Not bad, but nowhere near as good as their Viva set last year. They played more older tunes than I expected and not a whole lot of new or unknown tunes. I'd say their set was leaning more toward the epic trance side than the hardstyle side of the spectrum. Still a solid set though, lots of energy.

Scumfrog: Again, not a bad set, but I expected better from him. I notice he plays differently at Guv than at other clubs, and yesterday's set was far less interesting than even his last GUV appearance. I'm not a huge tribal/"DDTT" fan but I was surprised that he hardly played ANY tribal or even proper house tracks... it was very proggy and even flat at times, and thus a bit disappointing, but still worth hearing.

Club:

Crowd management: Since I always make a point of ragging on the Guv when they screw up, I ought to give credit where credit is due. Setting up the Kool Haus the way they did with the curtains blocking off the outer areas was a VERY, VERY good idea; it kept the areas relatively clear and made it very easy to get to the other side of the room. There was very little pushing and other irritations. First time in a while that I've been to the Guvernment complex and not felt like I was suffocating. And it was easy to find places to sit. Good job guys!

Guvernment main room was also a much smaller crowd than I was expecting... not sure if they limited the capacity last night or whether the night just attracted a smaller crowd than usual, but I actually went back and forth a few times from IM/Scumfrog/Dumonde and never really had to wait or push (except in the Orange Room from 1-2 am, which was still brutal, I really wish they'd put house or breaks in there and move the hip hop to somewhere else like the Drink). An unexpected and pleasant surprise.

--
Anyway, all in all it was a solid party, and despite my hesitations and restlessness during the early party hours, I'm glad I went. I got to see lots of people that I hadn't seen in a long time. And it was nice to finally meet some of the new faces - RobbyG, Spam, Vertigo, Karen, and probably a few that I've forgotten (it's been a long day). Thanks for coming out everyone!

I thought I saw Krusty The Clown You bash THE GUVERNMENT to death and say you would never come back and then you come back!

lol it wasnt super rammed because the dj lineup wasnt anything to write home about ... not because guv mgmt all of a sudden decided that they didnt want to ram the club in anymore...

if guv could have rammed it in that night then they would have (just like every other club in the city would have if they COULD)

Hey the DJ lineup was pretty damn good!

Posted by Special K on Feb-01-2005 23:19:

im sure it was if your into the music those djs play

but no one on that lineup is even remotely close to the likes of oakenfold / tiesto / avb / pvd / insert other big name "superstar dj" in terms of popularity ... if any of those djs were playing there then it would have been a completely diff story in terms of crowd size / overcrowding etc etc

They suck because they are too busy being miserable about something.

That thing was like a death chamber - to say there was no air in that room would be the understatement of the day. I swear I was choking on my way back to the main room

note to you: dont go to the patio next time.

Nice Scumfrog sig on your (or your friend's?) cap btw.

Yea, it's my hat, he signed it last time he was here (NOV.21 @ the Zone - I have the flyer on my wall )

Yeah, well you go to a normal show and you don't see you idiots up on the stage waving a flag around. I have no problems with my view being obstructed by a flag or sign or whatever for a bit. But come on, this was rediculous, and from what I've heard it happens everytime. I was talking to some people who are from Isreal but weren't like you guys jumping around with flags; they said it was disrespectful and they were embarassed to be associated with you.

Now what does that say?

Nothing wrong with going crazy but there is always a level of control. You don't have to act retarded to be 'crazy' or have a good time.

Try jumping up on the stage for Armin or Tiesto or the like and see how far you get. Actually... try it, that way you won't be in a state to jump again after the bouncers pounce all over your respected flag waving asses.

Posted by starsearcher on Feb-02-2005 15:43:

Hehehe...you get on stage during Tiesto and you definitely will get fucked up - part of the reason why usually his stages are somwhat far - he doesn't like that kinda crap.

Also if you look at any of the pictures from events in Europe you'll see there's a fence/guardrail (literally) between the people and the stage, and the security is usually in that area. The thing though, nobody crosses that barrier everyone's just having a great time.

When I was at innercity in amsterdam I was quite amazed how well managed and controlled it was 50,000 people and nobody doing anything stupid - like jumping around on any stages.

just my 2 cents
