All right people i'm sorry i took a week but, it has been a busy week catching up with school and work.so here we go....

This year i went to ultra with my close friends who have never been before. They always joke with me about liking EDM so i figured i would take them to ultra to see if i could change their minds.

We got there at about 3 and walked around for a while. Checked out all the stages, got some water cuz it was hot as hell during the day. We finally found a good spot to sit down on te grass of the main stage and chilled for a little jamming to C. Lawrence. then went went to see Kevens since they played a decent set last year but, i was serously disapointed this year, it was some really depressing shit. So we left to catch infusion. i was really impressed, i thought it was cool the way made a live remix of their song right there.

Then the man came on. i dont know about everyone else but i thought that Ferry Corsten threw down the best set of ultra. About half way theough his set we had to get dwon in front to dance. As soon as we got there he started playing "Force of Gravity". I thought to myslef i wonder if DA is somewhere here dying to this song? As soon as i heard it was coming on i told all my friends "WATCH THIS" and pointed at the crowd. you could see everyone going nuts. Around the side you could see a shit load of people running to the main stage to catch the set. Then a little later I heard the "click.. click ..click" of rock your body rock come on (now i know this song is a little old and a little played out, but it still rocks)Agian i told "WATCH THIS" and the entire crowd went absolutely BANNANAS. The was the best momen t of ultra for me.

After we went back up to the ledge to watch the rest of the show. i met up some other friends who i had to help get it (ticket problems) and i missed all of oakenfold, which i normally wouldnt mind but i hear from you guys he played a pretty good set. i got back just when junkie started. i thought his set was really similar to last years, and i liked last years but he didnt have the same vibe. i did like the beastie boys mix though

then the man i had been waiting for all day long came on TIESTO. i was hyping this set up for the last year to my friends. and i thought tiesto did an alirght job. i dont think he did as good as i thought he would but i still was jamming and so were my friends. i really liked the Force of gravity remix he played.

Right after he finished we ran over to check out Crystal Method for a little bit. There was hardly anyone there. they were spinning awsome but without any people there the vibe sucked. So i said lets go vack to Van Dyk. And let me tell you he is the absolute best choice to close every single year. No matter how tired you are from dancing your ass off all day long he will always make you dance more. Talk about energy. he had that place rockin. definately my second favorite Dj of the night. he tore it up.

In the end i have converted all my friends to EDM fans, maybe not as much as any of us but i willwork on it. Since ultra i have burned them about 20 CDS and they look like they enjoy most of them. One of them is becoming a TA now , I think his name will be ZIGGIE, he should be posting soon.

i did see some TAs around but i was to messed up to introduce myself, you can only make one first impression you know. well school is over in a few weeks, so no more early wensday class , that means i can go catch GROOVE Eric @ blue. Lookin forward to seeing you guys soon .

much love
party safe

Smokey

Haha there's nothing better than introducing your friends to EDM, and damn bringing them to Ultra is an awsome way to do it

Did Paul actually produce it, or is it another "Oakenfold" remix that's actually done by Steve Osbourne & Andy Gray?

Either way, congrats on your track's success.

Rasta

hahaha yeah i remember that.

i was like WTF!

cuz he just randomly approached us hehe.

nice meeting you, s0n!

Posted by smokey183 on Apr-05-2005 01:43:

well i kinda knew that there would be alot of TA at nikki's for that event and the TA dinner, so i had my eye out for you guys so i could introduce myself. Cuz last time i met you DA i doubt you remember you were so wasted. and it was cool meeting MR. Pink considering as soon as we met he started talking bout smoking, i think we would get along just fine.

Ferry's comments about the set up of the mainstage:

"the monitor speakers right next to the DJ booth were not connected!!!!! So all the DJs were mixing on the main sound system from which the sound is delayed once it reaches the DJs ear because of the distance...so, it was either mixing in the headphones, or mixing the record in and than correct it once you heard it

That was a fantastic piece of work by the company who produced the whole show"

This explains a lot.

thanks!! i have no idea who actually remixed it, all i know is that i went to say to oakie onstage during his show at amphitheater and he said that he loves the track, made a remix, and opened with it at ultra and in tampa. then he popped the cd in the deck and let me listen on his headphones. it felt really surreal like he was putting a crown or halo on my head... hehe...
