you 'assume' wrong, whats with people and assuming?

Posted by apri_peel on Jun-07-2005 03:33:

well, silicuda, if you are so calm, rational and smart, what would YOU have done if you were in a similar situation as the many not so happy people here?

Posted by Mortyman on Jun-07-2005 05:31:

Well, I've held my last breathe for someone to hopefully sell me a ticket...

I've made my decision,

I'm gonna go to Plush on the 16th, and HARASS EVERY SINGLE PERSON I SEE to sell me a ticket for $50

I managed to get a ticket for Tiesto a couple years ago doing the same thing, and nothing, I MEAN NOTHING, is going to stop me from seeing PVD!

$50 will be my first, and final offer... I'll just throw on my most pathetic, most sympathetic, most puppy dog face I can muster up so that someone can't refuse

Stores / Club Vibes / ClubZone are NOT the only places that sell tickets. If you were to throw and organize a show (and therefore be labelled, the promoter) you would understand how the business works, private sales through authorized ticket sellers is where the bulk of the sales come from.

ok so in future how do i find out where these authorized ticket sellers are?

do i need to spell out the obvious...? ill do it... e-mail and ask them.

"hi, who are some private sellers for _show_name_here i can buy tickets from?"

this thread is just so much fun!

All I can say is I'm glad the promoters in Calgary aren't as wacked as in Vancouver. Honestly, to brazenly chastise their consumers for not understanding their inconspicuous ways of business. is right.

Oh I long for the days...

June 1999, 6.5hr set by Paul Van Dyk @ 1015 Folsom in San Francisco 1 day after his club gig at Sonar.

It was a 16hr drive and I was willing to pay anything at the door to get in. The lineup was long but I got there early. There werent even any presales for this show. Cost at door? $5 USD.

It was the best trance set I had heard up to that point and still the best trance set I've heard to this day. It was the single set that inspired me to become a DJ. Sadly, things have changed a lot, his sound has drifted slightly and it no longer connects with me. I'll always remember that night; my friends that came with will always remember that night.

Times sure have changed!

Back in 1999, DJ Mag had Paul Van Dyk rated as #4 DJ in the world. The capacity of 1015 is around 1000+ if I am not mistaken. Could be bigger.

This was during the period when his album Stars was scrapped (later to be Out There and Back). He got on the mic and announced to the crowd that he was going to play 2 songs off of the new album he has worked on and that we were the first few ppl to hear it. He then proceeded to play Avenue and Another way off CD-R.

Yep Btw 1999 and 2000 there was kinda a shift in power for best djs in the world... oakenfold, then mauro picotto, then pVd, then the reign of tiesto began.

re; shift in music

From 1997/98 on after Seven Ways, Paul Van Dyk has always hovered around the top 5 DJs. There's the usual lot of Sasha, Digweed, PVD. The shift in popularity in recent years has allowed for Tiesto, AvB, Ferry Corsten to enter this DJ Mag top 10 and it's always had 1 or 2 prog guys in there, witness Lee Burridge, Danny Howells, Hernan Cattaneo and James Zab in recent years.

I think in fairness, PvD was as popular back then as he is now. It just costs a lot more to book DJs now as the top of the pack has separated themselves from the others.
