But remember - the judges are judging TRANCE, if it doesn't fit - the Scoring will be wrecked and i'll be slaughtered, good technique or not!

Posted by arwoo on Aug-02-2005 16:40:

How will the scoring be afecetd for live mixes. I think by the looks of xDrs tracklist he should be allowed in and someone who said they did theirs live should be booted.

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-02-2005 16:44:

All that are in - are staying - End OF.

It's just that if you've strayed from trance, don't expect a huge score, as it won't be what the criteria stated.

If someone did it live - fine, they are also up against it.

Mine's pretty damn trance.....I think? LOL Anyway, if anyone wants to get a house competition going, PM me and I can host it on my site. I think it would ROCK! As a matter of fact, I think I'll just start a new thread for it.

Best of luck to all that entered this contest!!!!!

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-02-2005 17:15:

Oh yesh - Bring it on!!! lol

I'm not a house man - or trance man either lol.

Love my techno'y type stuff

Posted by Venik on Aug-03-2005 02:18:

Judging is well underway. I got 15 mixes to go.
Thanks to those who uploaded and shame to those who didnt
Good luck to all.

Posted by djsphere on Aug-03-2005 08:22:

22 mixes uploaded from what I see. That's a lot, I don't think we ever had 22 in the LIVE one. Anyway, I also started judging

May the best DJ win.

Just started judging, only half way through one, sounds good. Good luck

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-03-2005 16:50:

Judges get 22 mixes to keep and use forever too, some might be crap conpared to others, but there will always be some mixes that are worthy of CD burning stature!

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-03-2005 16:51:

Yes, your absolutly correct, some are amazing, but so far not really my style, but i'm not letting that effect the judging!

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-03-2005 16:55:

Creamfields it would have been nice to put your name on your tracklist! But i found it anyway in the forums!

HAHA

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-03-2005 16:59:

When im judging, shall i put in an extra mark for how i liked it,

25 being loved it and wanted to fuck the mix all night long
1 being i wanted to kick the mix in the head, rip off its bass and shove its treble up its ass!

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-03-2005 17:17:

Inventive idea lmao, but no lol.

a) Originality and Feel
b) Beat-matching
c) Transition harmonics

You could incorp that idea into "A" marks. It it felt spot on and excellent, 25, if not rate it lower.

Beats are the mixing ability track to track, and the harmonics is similar but the notes from each track fitting nicely.

A C in the exiting track being mixed in time with an F-sharp on the incoming track is going to clash horrifically.

Not necessarily, it can sound alright if you manage to keep the melody and baseline of the two tracks apart.

Also, a mix from G minor to A flat minor for example can create a nice energy boost in your set

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-03-2005 20:47:

That's it though matey - some won't cut the Bass from 1. Thats where some go wrong.

Yes sorry mate. That was a bit nOObish realised that way to late.

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 15:02:

To all other Judges creamfields tracklist is the one called tracklist! OK

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 16:20:

HAHA, smart idea DJ Commisad, nice linking track

03. Sasha - Xpander
04. Sasha vs Highland - No Way To Xpand (Live Dub Bootleg)
05. Highland - No Way Out (Highland's Way Out Dub)

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 16:31:

About the origionallity and feel, am i giving a mark for each or for both, or a mark for each and take the average?,

I think ill do that

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-04-2005 16:38:

Do it like that if you like, if you get a 22 for originality and a 24 for feel, = 23!

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 16:40:

And i was taking A-level maths, should have just asked you to teach me!

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 16:43:

when are you expecting the results in, i'm doing about 2 mixes a day. Trying to make a good job of it, its really close.

Posted by mr2gti on Aug-04-2005 16:49:

There is NO RUSH - take your time - get it right - once you have a chart of YOUR results, PM to me and i'll post the results once all added together.

But please don't rush, get it spot on.

Posted by AndySmith on Aug-04-2005 16:55:

Another question, i bet i'm being a pain, but i never judged before.

OK, when marking the B section, what i'm doing at the moment is how the beat is introduced and how it is lost. As every track seem to have perfect beat matching, but some have dodgy intos and exits.

25 being the tracks beat is not noticeable when starts, and exits, less is more noticeable. Is this right.

Oh and obviously if it sounds good to be introduced but is noticeable, this is about a 23ish?
