Hurry up and decide on someone ffs. It's not like they're going to get any credit for it anyways. The people on trance.nu will join in most probably.

YAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII DJ MIKEY MIKE

Posted by ncgroov808 on Aug-23-2005 15:16:

I'm gonna be just like every one else on TA and vote for Mikey Mike because someone told me to.

How about we start a thread telling all TA's to go jump off a fucking bridge? I'm sure a few would probably do it and it may be for the better.

Posted by nils on Aug-25-2005 08:46:

Maybe you're not getting the point. The reason we want to get Mikey onto the poll is to prove that all the DJMag Poll is is strength in numbers. We're not basing it on any skill whatsoever.

well, it doesnt reflect who is the best dj in the world, but it does reflect who is the most popular dj in the world, which is the whole point anyway isnt it? the top 100 djs are the ones who get the most votes, and so the ones who are likely to attract more people, and so are more attractive for promoters to book. it is a shame that it all boils down to popularity but the dj mag vote isnt a load of shit it's just that you havnt quite got your head round the whole point in it.

mangoman does have a point though.

No, it proves who's spent most money on the PR to get them votes. It's also been well documented in the past, either Lee Burridge or Deep Dish were making people at their events sign copies & then mass mailing them in to the mag. What we're doing is merely a pisstake and a very good one as it's totally within the rules. ie. to prove that anyone with a lot of support can make the list regardless. Sadly mikey won't make number 1 simply because he can beatmatch.

And as for those who don't like mikey personally, that's the exact point we want him in it, he speaks his mind, he's not afraid to say if somethings shit or not and that's something not many DJs do. It's all for laughs, remember that

yes sadly enough its a popularity contest. we all know that.
but one must not underrestimate the poll. Since many party organizers look at the DJ Mag Poll when they are choosing DJs for their upcoming events. Those who have a high rating are mostly likely to get chosen. And in the end who wants to see a guy who cant beatmatch properly when there are hundreds of those who can out there but are never mentioned?

that question was probably meant rhetorically, but there are loads out there who don't care about mixing skills & would rather see a name they recognise regardless of how good they are, rather than take a chance with an unknown. basic economics really, the known brands get the most trust & get more sales... inevitable in a scene as big as this one

abolutely but surely this would be more worthwhile if we had picked an amazing but under-rated dj, not just any old guy, no offence to mikey mike he's a better dj than many i know but i mean its a bit hypocritical to just vote for anyone.. but then i spose the whole point all along was to ridicule the whole system, in which case fair play lol. it would be interesting to see how well he does actually.

mike

well... basing it on the tens of thousands pulled in by the guys near the top at festivals/shows etc, it could be alot smaller

well, yes it does mate. the more votes u get the higher up in the dj mag poll u are.. the more popular or well known u are, the more votes you get. because more people know about you. makes sense really doesnt it.
