Posted by Armada_hk on Oct-27-2005 23:17:

Whether or not he has hair hardly affects his mixing skills. Looks at marco v and carl cox!

And it's not like I don't go out of my way to listen to new styles, sounds, and DJs. I live in New York City, so if I haven't heard of half of these DJs, it's unlikely that most people in the US have, because honestly, if a DJ comes to the US, they usually stop in NYC.

While we, as music lovers, have to go out of our way to find great music to listen to, it's not all on our shoulders. I don't care how good someone is if they don't put in the effort to share their ability. There could be some bedroom DJs who spin for fun that are better than everyone that you listed, but who cares if they don't put their talent out there to be easily enjoyed. Finding good music shouldn't be similar to finding the Holy Grail. That's one reason why people like Armin, PvD, Tiesto, etc. is because they market the shit out of their stuff, and some of it is good.

BTW, of the ones that I know on that list, I agree, they are great DJs.

That's a valid point, but it again proves my overall feeling, that this list is pointless, it means absolutely nothing for ability, if people can look past the fact someone made a certain rank and judge them on their actual abilities, we'd be much better off

i think its more of a "he should have won it last year and the year before" kind of vote. I agree, this year he hasnt done much but hes a very talented and hard working dj who has lost out many times to Tiesto who imo didnt really deserve his number one ranking for the last two years.

I love SOOOO much more than JUST Armin.
I'm NOT your typical tranchead who likes nothing else.
My faves include: Sasha, Sander, Dekay, Warren, Diggers....

It's the same thing that happened in the US Presidential Election last year, where people don't vote for someone, but against another. PvD and Armin were the two most likely to topple Tiesto, so people threw them more votes than if there were no previous list.

The only difference is, it worked in DJ Mag, not in last year's election.

Posted by krew on Oct-27-2005 23:24:

I think that u never should give a shit about dj mag.. since this is a fucking rank of the most popular dj, not the best
