It's all about the Brewers, baby. And the A's are going to win the AL West easily next year. As are the Indians in the Central.

Everyone is freaking out here... about losing Damon... but since I jumped off the Sox bandwagon a long time ago... I say... "who gives a shit?"

They're going to suck either way, who cares, baseball is dead... let's go PATS!!!

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Dec-22-2005 03:57:

Calling Damon a traitor is retarded. The Red Sox had every opportunity to get him back but didn't. It seems as if they didn't even try hard to sign him. So tough shit, blame your idiotic front office.

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-22-2005 04:38:

The same idiotic front office that traded Doug Mirabelli (a back-up catcher) for Mark Loretta?

I'm thinking they're gonna go get Coco Crisp now for CF. And they may see what Alex Gonzalez is asking for.

Coco Crisp
Mark Loretta
Ortiz
Manny
Varitek
Nixon
Lowell
first baseman?
Gonzalez

Looks pretty decent to me. Let's see what happens the rest of the off-season before calling them "idiotic" for letting Damon go somewhere else for 13M a year.

They also have Andy Marte... who I think is going to be a STUD.

They should have went with a defensive OF. Anyone who can play the position above averagely would have been a much better fit. Then, I know they have a lot of money in that rotation already, but they should've checked to see what Millwood wanted.

I'm not saying Damon will hurt the Yankees, I just think there were better things they could've spent that money on. I used to be in the "Cashman is a great GM, but is limited to what he can do be Steinbrenner" camp. I definitely think differently now...

I just copied my post from the NYTA board...

Yeah because we remembered all those key hits that the Yankees had in the post season last year against the Angels or how they stopped hitting against the Red Sox in that collapse in 04' Yankee fans realize what the real Yankee issues were in the playoffs. Bullpen and clutch hitting, and creating rallies in the post season when trailing, they just didn't have it. Pitchers were the least of the issues in their recent playoffs. Why do you think Alex Rodriguez got so much heat for his performance in the playoffs.

The fact is whichever way it is twisted the Red Sox didn't think he is worth it for them, the Yankees thought otherwise and stepped up. He is a fit for this team, certainly when your next best option was Bubba Crosby, at best a backup outfielder on the bench, who would play about75 games a year at most depending on injuries, pinch running, defence, etc. When Andy Petite left NY, us Yankee fans rationalized it as well and moved on, that's Free Agency, a guy goes where he wants because it is his talents being marketed.

hey members of juice add another yankee (well ex) to your beloved players on the juice guys
Matt Lawton
his reason for bein on the juice...
"I wasn't playing well enough to be on a Little League roster, let alone be on the roster of the New York Yankees,"

me thinks he still isnt good enough to be in sigle A much less the Marlins or Royals

I completely agree... he's not a traitor, he's smart... the Sox thought he was bluffing and SO DID EVERYONE else(according to WEEI when I listen) so Damon stuck it to them, and good for him, even though I think the guy is the biggest idiot in the world...

Damon is not worth 13 million a year... but WHAT they lost in his leadoff qualities... it would have been worth 13 million to keep that in tact, rather than trying something new which will not be the same as Damon... oh well...

THEO was smart for leaving, now Damon can be added to that list... WHO'S NEXT!!! lol...

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Dec-23-2005 10:05:

Maybe Manny will push ever hard to get shipped out. If he leaves, Boston are surely done.

johnny damon is a sellout.

Yeah but Phil Collins became more succesful as a solo artist then he was with Genesis. Maybe that's the same analogy Damon is thinking of. He'll be more successfull in New York(?). maybe

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-26-2005 03:54:

Johnny Damon was on the A's and the Royals before he was on the Red Sox.

yeah but his jesus like appearence was the face of those annoying Red Sox teams for years. Most fans have already forgotten his days in Oakland and in KC it was like the minors.

Posted by Mebot on Dec-27-2005 14:38:

Jose Vidro is apparently "not mad" at Soriano, but he does have mixed feelings about the trade. He wants to have the outfield/2ndbase thing cleared up before spring training.

Why do I have a feeling this is just going to turn into one big soup can?

In other news, i'm going to try to head down to Florida to catch some pre-season games. My grandparents have a house about 15 miles away from Space Coast stadium. I never knew this!

I live about 20 minutes away...the players are great about signing and Frank is very accessible,he just doesn't like being called coach.3rd and 1st base line seats are about 20 dollars

maybe that's why the nats will never win a pennant anytime soon, because their own manager can't take the responsibility title role as manager/coach of the team ... ..

i keed .. i keed ...

but i think the nats are one more Free Agent signing away from making a strong push next year ..

i sound like john madden , don't i ?

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-28-2005 03:37:

Blue Jays get Troy Glaus and a prospect for Hudson and Batista.

Don't like it. At all for the Jays. Their dope ass defense is shattered now.

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-29-2005 06:23:

Mets get Chad Bradford. And are on the verge of signing Julian Tavarez. Bullpen is shaping up pretty damn nicely. All it really needs is a situational lefty.

Wagner
Heilman
Tavarez
Bradford (only against RHs)
Lefty (only against LHs)
Padilla
Zambrano

Done.

I'm going to hire you at a law firm for 50,000 a year. My rival firm is offering you 75,000. Which job do you take?

Posted by Member of X on Dec-30-2005 00:40:

The Orioles are seriously weighing a proposal from the Red Sox of Manny Ramirez and Matt Clement for Miguel Tejada, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports.

*My take:

Red Sux would be DUMB to make this move. You don't trade 40 HR's every year plus a ton of RBI's for a guy that is very good but still not in Manny's league hitting wise (two years ago was a bit of an aberration). Manny is being Manny playing the field but Miggy's defense can be ghastly at SS. Plus they throw in the scrub Clement. Wow.... hard to see it happening though cuz I doubt the Zero's errr the O's want to trade within the division.

I heard another rumor for the Red Sux to trade Andy Marte in a deal for Coco Crisp. Without question the best name in my opinion.

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-30-2005 01:23:

I think Milton Bradley beats out Coco Crisp.

As for the Red Sox... they should definitely grab Coco Crisp.

i am really liking this bully, especially heilman's flexibility..seems like he will be used like ramiro mendoza when he was with the yankees

Well i wouldn't be surprised if this deal does go through, considering Boston already lost Damon to NY.

In other news, Washington signed P Ramon Ortiz to a 1year deal. We're slowly but surely closing the gap of expected starters. I'd like to see at least two more starting pitchers added to the rotation

I'm not feeling a "righty" specialist. Seems weird to me. Even though Bradford seems like a really good guy from the book Moneyball. Cool throwing motion though.

I'd be concerned about the age on the Mets rotation. Glavine 39, Pedro 34, and Trachsel 35. Just as much as I'm concerned about my Yanks with Big Bust and Moose (will suck this year).

Kevin Millwood for 60 million..... yowzers, that's redunkulous. His ERA is gonna skyrocket in Texas. It's a launching pad there.
