Clovis agreed on edits in his track, some work there and some pitching could be a good compromise. But, again, I havent heard the mix.

id reccomend mine, it was quite long. but it sounded best compared to the other mixes or the shorter version of it.

Metatron.

Try uploading it in a FTP prog or windows FTP way (which ever you aint right now)

Name it FINAL too - it is faulting like hell right now.

Posted by Psychotron on Jul-10-2006 00:49:

lol what the hell is going on.

Posted by JasonThomas on Jul-10-2006 02:19:

just got back from work and it was at 3%!! wtf?? i don't know what's going on.

i quit it and started it again with flashFXP ftp prog. going to go to a friends house and should be back in a few hours. if it does it again i will just upload it to my webspace. kk. sorry guys.

it's worth the wait though as my track is f-ing awesome!!

edit: wtf it keeps restarting. just gonna up it to my site. will let you know when it's done.

Posted by MoN-SooN on Jul-10-2006 16:15:

when I encounter problem like yours I usually enable queue processing to avoid reuploading. Whole file resides on the server and next upload attempt erases it. I am using LeechFTP but I'm pretty sure every other FTP client has such option or equivalent

Posted by JasonThomas on Jul-10-2006 18:28:

just listened briefly (on +4% ) and holy shit!! after my track it gets seriously fucking awesome!!

will write up a full review in a bit

Posted by Belgian Bonzai on Jul-10-2006 21:34:

I listened up till Mon-Soon's track, BIG mix there (not only in terms of length), absolutely love it.
The first part maybe still lacks a little coherence as it tends to shift back and forth from melodic uplifting to tech-prog a little IMO (1st impression).
I'll try to review it aswell, but I'm not making any promises.

thx 4 the effort, erratik, nice 1!

Posted by mr2gti on Jul-10-2006 22:08:

Tag done, 3.3% increase and new fade out as Metatrons just cut to a stop???

79:52 long.

Posted by isoterra on Jul-10-2006 22:55:

right, here goes:

01. Schiller - Das Glockenspiel (ID Mix) [djgosher2023]
02. Dutch Force - Deadline (Original Mix) [djgosher2023]

really wasn't sure about this intro, the opening track could have potentially made a cracking opener but really needed something better to mix into. i can kind of see the inspiration behind using deadline since the backing string in das glockenspiel is kinda similar to it, but it was never gonna mix in smoothly, and clashes harmonically too. plus, deadline is a big peaktime track that shouldn't be used so early on imo... really needed something proggier with a more minimal intro to it

03. Chicane - Lost You Somewhere (heliotropic remix) [evelon]

hehe, this was one of the tracks i'd wanted to use before hearing the mix. very nicely mixed, and it works because it's upbeat enough to follow on from deadline, but at the same time feels more mellow.. so therefore suits the early stages of the set

04. Limited Growth - No Fate (Quadran Mix) [Belgian Bonzai]

hadn't heard of this track before i must admit, liked it though, well mixed and fits really well

05. Utah Saints vs Age Of Love - Age Of Vagueness (JH Bootleg)* [The Freezzz]

great track, didn't think the age of vocals added much to it though. the mix in was almost ok, but felt like the beat from the previous track completely dropped off as the bassline came in

06. Sunscreem Vs Push - Please save me (Push Remix) [DJ Roko]

decent enough choice.. but absolutely terrible trainwreck i can't believe this wasn't re-done?? really tarnishes the set for me

07. Robert Armani - Circus Bells (Hardfloor Mix) [RX]

following RX's djcomp mix i expected something a bit weird here from him & certainly got it it's an interesting twist but doesn't really keep with the flow imo, makes it sound like one set has ended and another started

08. LSG - Netherworld (Jules Verne Mix) [JakeC]

this on the other hand kept the flow brilliantly, excellent choice. mix was slightly off in a few places but recall it was done on vinyl so fair play

09. Robert Miles - In The Dawn [MoN-SooN]

wasn't sure on this to be honest, flow-wise it just seemed to drop down into a lull, was quite hard to follow on from. the transition was almost awesome but when the beat on netherworld drops off you can hear the two tracks drift slightly out of sync, makes it quite uncomfortable to listen to (for someone as picky as me)

10. Chakra - Love Shines Through [isoterra]

well like i said.. i found in the dawn hard to follow on from, and while the two tracks go really well together i thought the jump from deep trance to uplifting vocal trance was possibly a bit sharp.. but hey ho, best i could come up with

11. Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Solar Stone Remix) [plaxx]
12. Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie et Le Soleil (1996 Way Out West Club Mix) [Stevieboy32808]
13. BT - Flaming June(BT & PVD Mix) [Psychotron]
14. Madonna - Ray Of Light (Sasha Ultra Violet Mix) [Clovis86]
15. M.I.K.E. - Sunrise at Palamos[DJ Metatron]

i've lumped all these together because i have pretty much the same comments to make about all of them; fucking fantastic! not only were the mixes spot on, they were positively glowing... beautifully blended together and managed to flow perfectly despite the styles being pretty varied. i don't even like sunrise at palamos that much, find it quite overrated.. but it fitted so well here i couldn't help but appreciate it. and clovis's choice proves what valuable input can be had by good DJs from different musical backgrounds, just like with allied nations in GE4.. the tune isn't really trance at all but it goes perfectly

if the whole set was at the quality of the last 5 transitions/tunes then i think it would become my favourite set ever

Posted by Belgian Bonzai on Jul-10-2006 23:04:

Thank you, isoterra, appreciate it.
I have to come to Freezzz's defence though, No Fate abruptly crosses over from climax to outro, the beat just... well stops, real pickle for our Dutchie, but he did well, though I found it a little over-hi-hatted in the beginning of the mix, but like I said, very very good under the given circumstances.

Posted by isoterra on Jul-10-2006 23:10:

aha.. i see, thought that might be the case. in fairness you can hear the same thing in my transition if you listen carefully so i shouldn't complain really

Posted by Psychotron on Jul-10-2006 23:59:

I really liked this cd, even more then #4. I only had a few problems with the set.

The only track choice I didnt like was #5, while i enjoyed the actual track, the vocals just annoyed me heh.

The other things were the first two tracks, aside from the transition. the actual recording sounds like crap.

mine should'nt have been abrupt the song just echoes out. maybe your download got cut off? i dled it off my site and it's fine. anyway the speed is ok?

isoterra: excellent review. thanks. i had pretty much the exact same sentiments.

the intro track is well done and perfect but the abrupt begining of Deadline really kills the flow. the track sounds unnaturally slow too. it's a good track but your right it's more of a peak-time track and a combination with it being too slow makes it a bad choice at this point.

excellent job with Lost You Somewhere Evelon. great transition and an awesome soothing classic to chill the flow at this point. pulls the mix up in quality really well. nice.

No Fate is a great choice. love the tune but not too set on it's placement here. didn't seem to flow too well from Lost You Somewhere. i think it was probably a hard track to blend from anyway. nice stuff anyways. didn't kill anything for me.

pretty much agree entirely with isoterra on Age of Vagueness. absolutely love Lost Vagueness and knew it had to show up in the mix. not too keen on the vocal mashup, didn't hurt and was a good effort to make it fresh but as isoterra said; it didn't add anything for me.

never heard this track before and I absolutely love it!! seriously a gem in the rough! but yeah the transition sucks balls. shows a serious lack of care with something like this. you only have one transition to show off your DJ worth here and it's not a live mix so you can do it as many times as you need to get it right. theres no excuse for this unless you don't care or are seriously lacking an ear for this stuff in which case you should give up DJing.

ok, nice transition into Circus Bells... but this track? no offence RX but i hated this track. is this even trance? it seems really out of place mate. nice job on finding such an old track but if it means a track like this i'd prefer something newer. this just annoys the crap outta me.

Nether World is a great choice Jake. but doesn't flow to well from Circus Bells imo. shouldn't have tried to blend that intro melody with the bells lol. probably a hard track to come out of so no sweat. anyway stellar selection. love the tune.

great transition here Mon-Soon! really nicely fads away into your track in an interesting way. isoterra's right about the energy lulling here but i didn't have to much to contend with it. i thought it was rather nice. sort of a filler track in my opinion though, but a good one none the less.

i thought this track was great and the transition was awesome imo. not a sharp jump for me. you had a bit of a rest with the previous track and then this track pulls the energy in nicely. perfectly actually. a real treat here.

another awesome transition here. plays off the previous track nicely and is a pleasing classic to say the least. this mix didn't seem to have much meat to it though. doesn't show off Cafe Del Mar's space melody too much imo.

excellent transition here Stevieboy! very cleverly done. not a huge fan of the track though. a little before my time i think but is a really nice track to have here. class.

again a great transition. awesome track. i think this was THE first trance track that i heard. absolutely fell in love with this tune. brought me to a different world. thanks for the addition of this great mix.

interesting and enjoyable tune Clovis. absolutely perfect transition. after your track sets in and then drops off a bit and you can hear faint melodies from Flaming June i was astounded!! simply beautiful. the track is playful a nice bit of diversion at this point in the mix. something more epic and trancy at this point would have been on point for me though. this is the spot in the mix where i normally peak but this was a excellent way to go instead for sure. great job.

i thought my track is a bit obvious but i absolutely love it and for some reason when i was fishing around for classics when this was just getting off the ground and i heard this track again i somehow knew it was the track i'd use. i didn't even know my place at that point. i litterally had 47 different classic tracks i had 'narrowed' it down to choose from. anyway that track happened to work pretty damn well and i'm glad it was the one. actually for kicks i tried to mash it up with Miss Shiva - Dreams (Humate Remix) and it would've sounded ok if i was better at mashups. i just couldn't get that awesome bassline from Dreams into the breakdown where I wanted. oh well.

many thanks again to mr2gti for hosting this. such a fun thing to do with you guys. always so interested at what people come up with and am so glad a diverse selection of dj's joined. overall a really steallar mix that i'm going to keep forever.

cheers.

ps. as for the name I think just 'Classics' is fine as it's a special mix and it would pull it apart from our standard 'overly-sophisticated' naming scheme. plus it's already in the great artwork so that wouldn't have to be changed.

Posted by Bamboozles on Jul-11-2006 01:11:

good mix, just started listening to it, one comment so far........transition from dutch force to chicane and start of the chicane tune totally threw me out of the mood for the mix, made me totally want to skip out of that tune and move ownard to the next tune........maybe not an appropriate tune for the set......just does not click for me, but thats just me probably

Posted by Clovis on Jul-11-2006 01:19:

Nice reviews guys. Madonna didnt sound too bad pitched up to 138...since its kind of breaks I had fun looping the end of flaming june and letting it play with the mix for awhile...the mix itself is like 3:30 long. I have to agree that the end of the mix is really nice...everybody got a good flow going. Overall some good diversity in there.

I havnt had a chance to listen since metatron though cause I'm not at home...

Nice reviews, nothing to add to those. Only I've to say this CD is the best so far.... It seems that the CD's are getting better by the episode.

A few things about my add:
I just listened to it again and to be honest my mash-up doesn't really sound as great as when I made it. It seemed really cool the vocals of Age Of Love with Lost Vagueness, but I'm not really happy with the way it sounds now. Well perhaps I'm gonna redo it to use it my sets.

And about my transition. It was the only way to do it. The BPM of BB's track was constant from the place I cued my track and then there's a sudden beat stop. This was the only way to deal with it.

Big Thumps up for everyone who's helped with this one

Circus Bells is CLASS!!!!

DON'T KNOCK THE BELLS!!! THE BELLS!!!!!!!!!!!

Always different me, as you all know.

Mistake I made, was picking the track I was going to use before it got to my go.

2nd choice was Da Hool, Meet her at the Love Parade (Nalin and Kane mix).

CD6 to correct my errors though

think CD10 should be classics again when we get to it
