Great book...had to read it in one of my english classes last semester. Really shows you how terrible race relations used to be through a black child's eyes.

Seriously, this book amazes me. Toni really knows how to write. The descriptions she uses to describe what this child thinks is just mind blowing.

I know what you mean, some authors just have the ability to paint vivid pictures in your mind no matter how appealing or awful they might be, Morrison definitely has that ability. Authors like her know how to bring the reader into the story, makes for a great read

Oh ya totally! Have you read anything else by her? A friend of mine recommended, " Jazz ". When I'm done this one I might go and pick it up. If this book is a good indication on how she writes, I might have to read them all.

**For me to want to read more than one book, even more than one chapter of a book , it means it's really good.

Haven't read anything else from her but I have heard good things about "Jazz"...I can't really see Morrison writing a "bad" book, even if the story wasn't that great her writing style is amazing.

I'm the same way with books, some I feel like I'm reading just to get through the damn thing and others I really get into and enjoy. "The Bluest Eye" is just such a heartfelt story, I can't see anyone not being able to enjoy it.
