Welp, my boss just advised me that it isn't "professional" to have music playing in my lab...
99% of the time, I'm in there alone (which sux btw), so who the F cares??? Apparently my boss... I even tried to explain to him that the music keeps me focused and allows me to work far longer than being in a silent room... no love... no love.
I will take solace in my laser

It's been a few years since I've driven out to that mall. I can't imagine how busy it is around this time of year. Glad I'm skipping xmas this year. Can't wait for January.

The Palisades Center:

The mall is located west of NY Route 303, south of exit 12 of the New York State Thruway (I-87 and I-287), and north of NY Route 59. It is the second-largest mall in the United States in terms of gross area at 3,500,000 square feet (325,000 m), and with a Gross leasable area (GLA) of 2,000,000 square feet[1] is the third-largest in terms of leasable retail space (the Mall of America and the King of Prussia Mall are larger). It is named after the nearby Palisades, which border the Hudson River and the eastern part of Rockland County.

ooh really? sounds like i need to hit that up. does it have good stores?

I am SOO freakin ***boreeeed** of Roosevelt Field -- even with its facelift, still sucks...that was the mall that I was closest to during my jhs years (maybe thats why i hate it so much). i had to endure living in Little Neck and the ppl there for awhile when I was younger cuz my family moved there...i hate Lil Neck and all surrounding suburbs!!!

Posted by danlaxx1 on Dec-08-2006 16:09:

Luckily this job is only temporary until I start the apprenticeship for Local 3 (electricians union in NYC). It's not so much that it was short-staffed, it was just the people there were doing NOTHING. In a sense it did feel that we were under-staffed because I was the only person doing something. It was actually realllllllllly slow lastnight, but that doesn't mean it's time to dick around and bs the whole time. I guess I have a different work ethic than the people that work there. I know in the coming weeks it's gonna get crazy. Can't wait till it's all over.

And thanks for your sympathies

On another note, I definitly didn't think I was gonna make it home from school today. My Jeep is so running on gas fumes right now. I'm such a procrastinator when it comes to getting gas. I've been lucky that I've never ran out (knock on wood). Oh yeah, and it's FUCKING COLD outside today.

The palisades sucks. Its right near where yuis grew up so I have been there a million times. For as big as it is, I NEVER find that gerat of stores....not worth the travel.

If you are gonna travel up that way I would def suggest going to the outlets!!

so you're not going to become a math teacher?

Posted by danlaxx1 on Dec-08-2006 16:27:

Holy shit, you remembered. I'm impressed! No, I'm not gonna become a teacher. It was definitly a big decision I had to make. It wasn't something that took me a day to decide, it took me close to two weeks with my parents help. They didn't pressure me into doing one or the other, even though I felt my dad really wanted me to become an electrician since he's in the same union. I figured this is a job here now that pays well with great benefits. It's really hard to pass up an opportunity like that. In a perfect world, I would become a math teacher. Perfect meaning everything goes well with school (no set-backs), do my student teaching in a timely manner and get placed at a good school district on Long Island that's close to me. If this other job didn't come up, I would have bit the bullet, done my time in school, and see where it places me. If I was well into my schooling, I would have stayed the teacher route but I'm 23 and just started school this past semester for it (I did some soul searching a few months ago and decided to go back to school after over three years of working retail). It would be atleast another few years before I got a job somewhere.

Posted by DevilDogUSMC on Dec-09-2006 09:50:

Ah cool. Usually the only time people know about
Suffern is from the Sex in the City episodes with
Aidan's country house from Suffern. And they make
our Village look like it's in the middle of the
woods/country/nowhere.It's not true! We don't live
miles from each other

And only 20 minutes from NYC

haha maybe if you are on a plane. I have been thru suffern a million ZILLION times (to drive home upstate) and there is no way in HELL you can make it to suffern in 20 minutes. Shit my bf lives in rockland county long before you get to suffern, and it takes 30 minutes in good traffic.

Posted by DevilDogUSMC on Dec-10-2006 09:01:

You know in Pulp Fiction how the cleaner dude says:
"That's 30 minutes away, I''ll be there in 15"

That's how I feel lol. Yeah more like 30 min. but still
pretty close.

You know what would be so awesome? If someone would give me a four page paper on something that has to do with communications so I don't have to write one. That would honestly make my day and I would love you forever (maybe I'll even let you take advantage of my discount at Foot Locker, yeah, I don't sound too desperate). I have two due next week (one for communications and one for my english class). Atleast they don't have to be that long.

Posted by danlaxx1 on Dec-11-2006 17:06:

lol I might be able to make something happen.
