NO YOU DIDN'T!!!!

given, the weei radio broadcasters... Joe Castiglione and Jerry Trupiano were the WORST ever, two FOSSILS who I wished died in their sleep EVERY night, so I could actually listen to a game for once on the radio.... Trupiano FINALLY got fired this year, so one down, one to go...

BUT, back to NESN, I friggen hate JErry Remy, guy is a waste of space.... Sean McDonough was the best Red Sox commentator of all time... and the AXE'd him over Remy and that other idiot who's name escapes me at the moment...because HE SUCKS TOO!!!

I mute Red Sox games if I ever watch them.... I only ever watch if Beckett or Dice-K pitch, only for Fantasy purposes...

the NESN commentators are reason #402392 why I hate Red Sox Nation!!!

those are specific examples. that means nothing.

sure it's an example specific to me but it applies to a lot of people. How many people here cheer for teams because they were raised watching them?

my point is that there was already an established fanbase for the Yankees (and many other teams) all over Canada way before the Blue Jays came into the league and the same is true for many newer American markets as well.

^^^^ Oh...and I really don't mind the NESN guys. Unlike the Blue Jays commentators that I mentioned earlier, they call decent games and I've never heard anything so retarded come from their mouths such as "the Yankees are heavily favoured by umpires and the MLB and get calls that nobody else does..."

yeah, see if you had to listen to them every game, they'd get on your nerves fast... or maybe not, a lot of idiots(Red Sox Nation) LOVE the Remdog, I hate the guy, no-talent waste of space, he was a lousy ballplayer and a horrid commentator...

and they don't say negative things about the Yanks, cause it might surprise people, but I'd say... for every 5 Sox fans in New England, there is 1 Yanks fan.... I might even go as far and say its 4:1 or 3:1.... lots of yanks fans around here, they just keep quiet if the Sox are doing well.... like now, Yanks fans are all over the place saying they're back and all that happy horseshit...

well, we are back in the race for the playoffs at least. Two months ago I was ready to say it was all over given how horrible they were playing. I still think the division is a little too far out of reach but Cleveland/Detroit/Seattle look susceptible and the Yankees have big series against them all in the next month or so. At least it will be an interesting race anyway!

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Aug-10-2007 22:01:

these past 2 months have been pretty remarkable for the yankees. on June 1, they were a mere 23-29. It's August 10, and they are now 62-51. they went an impressive 39-22 in a 2 month stretch. talk about building some confidence here.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-10-2007 22:02:

63 and 51 you mean...soon to be hopefully 65 and 52 after Sunday at the very least. I"ve always liked the Indians since I pity them, but now would be perfect timing for a sweep!

see this is what I don't get about yankee fans, because this thought seems to be the majority opinion out of Yank fans camp...

and it boggles my mind...

THE DIVISION IS NOT OUT OF REACH, why settle for the wild card, its the FUCKING RED SOX!!!!! History says Sox will choke... yeah Yanks caught up on their own and not because of the Sox... but jesus, its SIX games... thats nothing to come back on, plus six more Sox-Yanks games... Division is SO not out of the picture at all...

I just wish Yanks fans would be more cocky...lol... I mean... I know the Sox will blow it, so you should know it too!

I already posted in this thread that I was gunning for the division. So there.

Hughes gave up 1 hit today in 6 innings and I pulled him out of my starting lineup at the last minute. I hate when I do that! Really I hate it.

Joba Chamberlain (next phenom) came in an went 2 innings, 0 hits, 4 K's.

Next

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-11-2007 02:04:

Obviously I'd prefer the Division and it's still possible but I'm only going to be cautiously optimistic about it. Besides, it's been a painful last 6 years for Yankee fans (2 close losses in the WS, the collapse in 2004, underwhelming post seasons the last two years, all the ARod drama, etc). I don't have much to brag about these last few seasons.

At this point I just want to make the fucking playoffs.

edit: That Chamberlain kid was very impressive when I was at the game in Toronto but tonight he was totally fucking lights out. As Paul O'Neill was saying on the YES broadcast, when he misses, it's not by much and at such high velocity that hardly anyone can keep up with it. IMO, the Yankees' farm system is vastly underrated and overshadowed by all the bitching about lofty FA signings.

Posted by King Ecnal on Aug-11-2007 05:07:

ZERO runs for Dice-K tonite... then they got him 5... and he left, and they friggen blew it... to the ORIOLES???

are you kidding me... I'm just glad I was right... yeah

5 GAMES now!

still cautiously optimistic??? Cause I sure as hell ain't!

Are the sox like... I don't know, untouchable or something? Are they perceived as AMAZING?(Outside of New England anyway, cause I get the feeling they are) Cause I don't see it... Schilling is old, Beckett is awesome, Dice-K can't get run support, Wakefield has 13 wins, how he got there I have no idea, I've hated the guy since I was 15, Oki is a surprise, Papelbon, eh, whatever.... Manny is a clown, Papi isn't playing like Papi, Lowell is having a good year, Pedroia can hit for averge, but thats about it, PUK-ilis is back to being shit(thank the lord)... Lugo is pure Shit, Coco can only play Defense... JD is playing exactly like I expected him to, like overpaid trash... I mean... team is destined to be swept first round of the playoffs.... I just wish people could OPEN their eyes... like the idiots on Baseball Tonight, asked who would win the wild card, and the guy said the YANKS... I would have said the SOX, or go as far and say why do the Yanks only have a shot at the Wild Card, and vice versa for the Indians/Tigers... its silly to talk about cementing the wild Card, unless the WC teams are completely out of hte division race... or thats what I think...

time for me to shut up now... but you people got me started on the Sox... and this crazy thing going around where everyone thinks the Sox are untouchable... anyway, g'night and good luck!

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-11-2007 05:13:

I never said they were untouchable...and you're right, 5 games is fuck all. I guess the AL East is very much alive and I was very surprised to see the Red Sox blow it tonight against the subpar Orioles.

If the old guys like Clemens, Moose and Pettite hold up and pitch well down the stretch, the Yanks are gonna be tough to beat. But, if in the end, all they can lock down is the Wild Card, then I will certainly fucking take it because 2.5 months ago, we were over 14 games out of a playoff spot. and my god I am stoned right now!

I shut it off when it was 5-1, cause I was happy Dice-K was getting his 14th win, then I see they friggen lost.... Oki and Gagne... yeah two studs, and they can't HOLD the O's... thats pretty sad... friggen idiots...

If I was a superstitious Yanks fan, I guess I'd rather have the WIld Card, seeing the luck the last few WC teams have had with winning it all.... but you can't let the Sox win the Division... 8 Division titles in 90 years... theres a reason for that.... its not suppose to be!!!

the Yankees just destroyed the Indians this weekend, despite a late surge in the game today against a shaky Rivera. I am so impressed by this team lately! They are looking like a real contender - a total 180 from April and May.

Is the rest of Red Sox Nation (I fucking HATE that term) as worried as Ecnal now?

Is there anybody more overpaid in the MLB than Vernon Wells? Wow he sucks this year. 18 million a season for him? a .260 average and 14 homers, 67 RBI as of today? That's just....wow.

I've never seen a player who seems to hit into so many double plays or strikeout at a key moment. He also hardly ever runs out a groundball very hard, instead throwing his helmet around and swearing so loud you can hear it on the Jays telecast. Granted, he's a great outfielder but I was quite skeptical when they signed him last December and all the Jays fans here were going nuts.

are you sure 18 million? according to this site he's making a little over 8. he's still overrated imo.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-16-2007 01:36:

in December he signed a 7 year, $126 million dollar contract extension, which I guess will kick in next season. It's hard for me not to ignore a deal like that involving a Blue Jay since all the Canadian sports channels naturally make it the biggest story of the day. The contract has a no-trade clause and an opt-out like Arod's after 4 seasons but still....18 million for this guy next year? YIKES! Awesome signing Riccardi!!

hmm...excellent point. I should have said any player in the MLB that isn't a pitcher since Clemens isn't justifying his ridiculous salary right now either, although at least he's not tied down for 7 years!

I really have never liked Wells...something about him bugs the shit out of me and I really wish he had just gone to Texas so I don't have to see him get interviewed every night on the sports shows here. On top of that, he's not that great of an offensive player either.

see I don't think Rocket is overpaid... cause he's a HOF'er, and he's on the Yanks, so he should be overpaid since the Yanks signed him... if he was on the... Rangers and they paid him that much, then he'd be overpaid...

I loved Vernon Wells two yeasrs ago, but he's just come back down to earth is all... plus Alex Rios has exploded, so that doesn't help him much...

Posted by Member of X on Aug-16-2007 01:53:

Barry freaking Zito is easily the worst contract. Like EVER.

Soriano is pretty close too. That's a lot of money for what he's gonna give them 5 years from now.

Jason Juiceambi is a crappy contract too. Over 20 million for .260, 30 HR's, horrible defense (thus DH0, clog on the basepaths. At least he's nice. Injury prone too from the juice wearing off.

Dice K isn't worth 100 million. You won't convince me otherwise. However, Kei ICRAPwa is so freaking god awful it's ridiculous. It's comical actually.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-16-2007 02:19:

I'd take Soriano over Vernon Wells any day of the week though.

You're right about Igawa...I don't know what the Yankees were thinking there but he didn't impress AT ALL.

no, but he's ABSOLUTELY worth the six-year, $52 million dollar deal he signed...

they paid $51 million to the Seibu Lions... so that doesn't go to him, so no one SAYS he's overpaid, except you!
