senators suck!

Posted by smuncky on Jun-07-2007 00:56:

bah, i wish they woudl let the players play and not call those really borderline penalties. only call the ones that are 100% penalties.

hopefully theyll ease off in the next 2 periods. they might jsut be sending a message to the players that they wont take any crap, so they better behave.

ps...its not looking good for u jeff.

giggy saved them TONS of times throughout he playoffs but pahlsson has been pretty solid...s neidermayer has been a great leader though. anyhow like i said since game one anaheim in five

i'm so excited to see the cup...now the ducks are on a powerplay hehehe

***what the hell just happened

Posted by smuncky on Jun-07-2007 01:38:

wow!

what a game!

Posted by smuncky on Jun-07-2007 01:59:

the 2nd period the ducks were totally sitting back and playing defensive hockey. its like the sens were on a continuous powerplay, but the ducks kept dumping it down the length of the ice.

but i honestly think that if they keep playing like that, the sens will find the back of the net. ducks have to start playing some offense.

And if Anaheim wins in 7, I will win another $100 (hockey pool).

So.....

Go Ottawa (game 5)
Go Ottawa (game 6)
Go Anaheim (game 7)

Pity to see another American franchise who doesn't give a shit about the sport run by great Canadian minds and athletes win, but hey, I like a few platers on that team they deserve to win. Big ups to Anaheim!

Congrats to my Sens for making me such a proud fan... they were bet against in every series and they played their hearts out, couldn't be more proud of my team right now... the way the francise has played thru bankrupcy, the way the players have taken pay cuts to stay, the way the team has drafted their talent instead of buying it and the way our nation's capital sang their hearts out during the anthem every game. I don't care what other team you cheer for, they are everything a Canadian franchise and hockey city should be and I'm so proud to cheer for them!!

Posted by geroin on Jun-07-2007 03:12:

this is what i hate.. mostly canadians winning for an american team and in the end no one benefits but the managers and general managers, etc, most of the city doesnt even give 2 shits about hockey..

lol

with betting, i always go with my gut.

i had a feeling ottawa would come out a lot better than they did tonight - but the score should've been a lot tighter than it ended up. fluke goal when phillips knocked it off emery, deflections, ottawa knocking one off the post - but thats the way playoff hockey works.... when you're rolling, everything seems to go your way.

as far as my wagers, i ended up making $100. lost $20 on ottawa tonight, won $20 on anaheim winning the series - but more importantly, won $100 (3rd place) in the hockey pool at work.

anaheim deserved this more than anyone. so good to see selanne hoist that cup - i'm sure he'll retire now that he's accomplished the greatest feat in hockey.

One happy man

well put.

Some notes on the final: Redden-Meszeros combo a liability. Also, Redden, Gerber, Schubert, Meszeros need to be shed from roster. Sens need to get a tad more rugged, ala Gary Roberts and another tough defenceman.

Happy for Selanne, Rob Neidermayer and Brian Burke, don't care for the rest (Burke because he was GM for Vancouver - where I'm from). Also happy that the team that knocked out Vancouver won, though I was cheering for Sens. I'll settle for that.

Lastly, all the Canadian teams have played for the Cup the last 14 years, and even Tampa, North Carolina, now Anaheim have won. Even the Florida Panthers, another new team, have competed.

The Leafs? The proudest hockey fans in all the NHL?

39 seasons since they last competed for the Stanley Cup

wow. jsut wow. thats all u sens fans think about. u guys must be leafs fans deep down inside, cuz thats all you talk about. even when ur team gets into the finals.

watching a team win the cup is definitely something special, other girls get choked up during movies and i get choked up watching the last game of the stanley cup finals. it was sad seeing ottawa watching anaheim celebrate and it was great seeing scott pass the cup to rob...i give ottawa props for playing so well in the east but this was anaheim's cup to win or lose from day one. i think ottawa will have a strong showing in the future and it's great to see another canadian team make it to the finals (even though that does nothing for american ratings, which you HAVE to admit is important primarily because of exposure & tv money). definitely a good ending to a great playoff race

That's a pretty thick brush you're painting us with... the Leafs haven't crossed my mind all year save the odd argument I get into with their fans. (which I've learned is just futile)

I was on the GoTrain when Ottawa was down 2-0 and some Leafs fans was saying how he couldn't wait to see the city of Toronto celebrate when they lose. Leafs fans are the first people to rub it in when they win or your team loses, that's part of the reason why I dislike the team so much. So I'm pretty sure it goes both ways.

One a side note, future looks great for them, they made good strides this year. They need to make a few personnel changes:

- get rid of Redden. He's a brutal, overrated defenseman. Free up the cap space, get another rugged forward on the 2nd line who can score. Put the 'A' on Fisher's chest.

- get rid of Comrie... he's a wimp

- throw Saprykin on waivers

- fire Muckler and replace him with Murray, the guy who built Anaheim, as coach and GM. Muckler is old and senile, and has screwed up majorly at the trade deadline 2 years in a row.
Last year: Bochenski for Arnason... where is Arnason now? Colorado? And how bad did Ottawa need depth with 2nd line scoring this year?
This year: a chance to get Gary Roberts, an ideal second line winger. Who does he get instead? Comrie and Saprykin? The 2 worst forwards on the team one of which was a healthy scratch most of the time?
I say Ottawa would have competed way better in the final than they did if they had Roberts and Bochenski, likely even won it.

28 other teams wish they were in ottawa's position

my apologies. there are exceptions of course. its just that i also go to another sports forum, and the majority have the same mentality/arguments as Spin Laden does.

it just seems that every single time something goes wrong with ottawa, most of the fans bring out the old "the leafs won the cup 40 years ago" routine.
