Interview ft. Scott Richardson, Tetrameth & Mr. Peculiar
The Interview name has taken just a few short years on an arduous road into becoming one of the foremost crews in Melbourne�s electronic dance music. Now in their third year of running parties, the guys had organised one of their best at, their now current home, Miss Libertines. Initially having the headline act Trance legend Paul Molelands, due to an unfortunate accident, the line up had to be revised. This opening made way for Sydney boys Scott Richardson and Rossco Redman to make their first Interview appearance, alongside psy DJs Tetrameth and Mr. Peculiar.
Rising to their established standard, Interview featured a strong local lineup of residents and newcomers � including the likes of Ben Evans, Steve May, Blinky, Mojo, Gavin Martin, Simon Murphy and others. The sound of the night was one of unusual diversity as everything between Tech-House, Trance and Psy-Trance.
The main room had an early crowd arrive for opening DJ Rossco, playing a nice set of Progressive Trance � after starting half an hour late, whilst Simon Murphy dropped some nice lounge type tracks out the front, including work from Moonbeam. In the back room Mojo showed off his technical prowess DJ and VJing, his blend of techno and trance was incredibly moving and he soon had the floor dancing. Mojo�s presence behind the decks and ability to seamlessly coalesce sound with music gave the atmosphere a nice boost for the Uplifting Trance onslaught brought on by Scott Richardson. A pure trance DJ Scott is the label owner of TranceTribe Recordings, with his keen sense he showed off his skills as a DJ mixing together a great set with the highlight being Carte Blanche, Cosmic Gate Remix.
As one of the rising stars in the Melbourne scene, Ben Evans has recently redefined his style favoring the psychedelic edge of Trance. The crowd�s response was almost instantaneous - it was clear most of the people were there for the psy. Ben�s talent shone as bright as ever, playing full on Psy-Trance which kept the crowd on their toes until the arrival of local psy producer Mr. Peculiar. During this period the front bar almost became empty as Gavin Martin, and then Steve May dropping many warm numbers, which were a soothing change to the main � which was becoming insane!
Mr. Peculiar took over the main room at 3:00am keeping the pace up high with his unrelenting live Psy-Trance. At this stage the whole front was near empty with a large portion of the back room in full motion, Loki out the front was unfazed displaying a nice selection of techy minimalesque tracks, a personal favourite that I have never heard out being Xenia Belieyva�s �Hellraiser.� Mr. Peculiar didn�t drop a beat, even slowly raising the tempo; his sound fit in well at the time and formed a nice progression into the sounds of Tetrameth.
Originally from Sydney, Tetrameth was billed as a morning Psygressive producer, now playing internationally he has been signed to numerous Psy labels and is a regular at many outdoor festivals � playing the sunrise sets. The title he has received is not by accident, his unique sound was very motivating for 5am, with a tough proggy kick, deep bassline pads and crazy psy FX, the sound was very unique and exciting to dance along with. Keeping the people who were left, on the dance floor, Tetrameth made for an excellent closing act and showed why he has gained the success he has.
Another solid night of great music attracting a wide audience of enthusiasts, Interview are standing by their ideals and providing a great night out, with an indescribable aural signature, which is sure to keep you moving. The stunning talent at each party is the reason Interview has managed to not only survive, but thrive, with the next event, featuring interstate DJs Matt Rowan and Paul Abad already announced - you won�t have to wait long.
