I just finished it.

The ending was every bit as epic as the rest of the game, and the only other game to ever have such a solid story beginning to end was Bioshock.

This is about as close to a "perfect" game as I've ever played. No joke.

I'm going to be very interested once the credits stop rolling to see what my total play time was, because I know it was a lot.

Posted by RJT on May-12-2008 04:30:

Each time I played, I basically waited until I was done working through parts of the story (but I did do a fair number of unnecessary assassin missions as well), still - first play through 30:54:50.

There hasn't been a game with that's both kept my attention and had this much content in the first play through in a long, long time. I have absolutely no problem spending $60 on something like this - better than most movies that have come out in recent years.

Edit: And no arrests.

I played it for the first time on a buddy's 360 and I am so close to being convinced of buying a ps3 or 360 solely for this game.

Thank goodness i'm working out of town for 2 months to get me out of this lunacy thinking!

Me too, just played it yesterday(PS3), I get an extra paycheck this month. So close to pulling the trigger on a 360

Picking up an 360 and GTA4, Forza 2 tomorrow. I cant handle it anymore.

Damn, some folks made short work of the game. Not meaning time played but the little amount of days from purchase. Im going to drag my ass on this and goof off in between missions.

For those that did finish the story, are you still going to keep playing and just raise hell or are you moving onto a new title?

Loads more content beyond the story, will be playing for a while.

Absolutely worth the purchase.

And I didn't really drag my ass or goof off in the game much at all prior to completing the story - I just got really, really sucked in by it (I think it was incredible well crafted and epic), and genuinely couldn't play the game without wanting to see what happened next.

Of all the games I've played (and taking into consideration technological constraints of previous generations), the only ones I can think of with an equally engrossing storyline were Bioshock, FF6, and the Fallout Series.

Could well be very, very good - I've just never played it.

I picked up the whole 360 setup last night and go about an hour and a hlaf into GTA4. Im just trying to learn the city a bit more so I can evade the cops well. Seeing as we are getting a bit of a heatwave here for the next few days, Im just locking myself in the house with the AC on and a case of beer.

grand titty automation

Lol, apparently 'free play' means "meet up with your friends and try really hard to do lame glitches/tricks" - I've been kicked out of every free play game I've been in.

Posted by idoru on May-16-2008 23:05:

When my brother gets his new 360 in the mail (see: red ring of death), I'll definitely see about getting in on some free play with you folk, seeing as how anything on the Wii is out of the question.

I just hope they dont put any more stupid missions in the game like races or where you have to jump through hoola hoops

its looks and feel awesome, i just tried it today for the first time. I really hate the new button config after playing the ohter ones too long. When i get used to that, im sure this will be something i spend way too much time on, even if im not really a gamer.

i just watched a movie about it the tactical stuff is cool. but the pool playing or bowling crap is stupid. cool add on but not cool if it is required to get to the next mission.

you can change the button config to classic, which is think is the same layout as the previous ones.

Posted by idoru on May-23-2008 02:53:

Been playing this for about the past six hours, and this is the first time I've actually played a videogame for more than ten minutes in the last couple of years. Seriously fucking awesome.

Posted by RJT on May-23-2008 06:10:

There is one extra/side/post-main-story mission that was particularly satisfying.

All I'll say is that it pays to just dick-around in the city for quite some time after you've beaten the game - and internet is serious business.
