your jokes are at best, mid-schooler quality and your intolerance and unacceptance is quite surprising seeing as though you profess to be a trance addict??? wtf!

don't even bother replying to him..he just wants to get everyone going....i know ur first instinct is to have healthy debate but that is not his purpose..if u exit the thread..then he can be alone in here with all of his followers..and no one to react to them...
this thread should be closed..

You're out of synch and out of touch with your body spirit & inner child.

"gay friend" = summer fucktoy at the cottage.

c'mon, admit it. he doesn't sleep in a tent outside...you sleep with him inside you.

Fuck off to all the homophobes. You're the reason we have PRIDE .. to tell you all to FUCK OFF and get over your pathetic selves. Straight people get to flaunt being straight constantly. Almost everything out in public is promoted/distributed/advertised to the straight community -just look at the ads, movies, tv shows, the best clubs and bars etc. and you don't hear me bitching about that now do you? We get 1 week a year to party our asses off .. GET OVER IT

Pride was amazing this year and I had tons of fun.
Yay for homos.

When I'm standing in the middle of town town Toronto, with over a million people coming out - black, white, gay, straight, bi, trans, male, female, old, young, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and the family dog, most of them just "getting down and having a good time together" regardless of their backgrounds / color / gender and sexuality - That's pretty damn cool, and that type of unity in a celebration is something worth preserving, even if we have 'proved our point'.

It's no longer just pride over sexuality, but its pride in being yourself, its pride in being part of a city / country that has come so far in acceptance and diversity.

When there are other countries where you can get the death sentence for having gay sex, or where other pride celebrations are being protested with people throwing bombs / rocks / etc at the festivities - being in Canada, and in a City like Toronto, it's something worth being proud about and celebrating.

If you don't like it - don't participate in it. It's not all that hard to avoid if you don't want to see it.

These are the type of posts, which make this thread some what sad. People protecting, and standing up for Pride week, which was not even needed. Please somebody get these two a copy of "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift.

Way to be intolerant, when some people have expressed that they are uncomfortable with the way in which 'pride' is displayed. Its not about scrapping the event, or avoiding it because it offends, but making it MORE receptive to more people. You know, inclusion instead of exclusion? Most people have read what Vivid wrote, and replied in anger, instead of actually trying to understand what he was getting at.

Not every minority group needs to get up in arms every time somebody posts a negative, poorly worded comment. Learn to pick your battles, and hear both sides of the conversation, not just yours because you feel discriminated against.

Sometimes extreme proposals are need to stem extreme behaviour. I will say it again, waiving around a dildo and walking naked down the street does not further gay rights.

PS - gay people celebrate their rights all year, just like everybody else. You celebrate them by actually using them. You know...getting married, and walking around freely and such?

Er... I know we're sorta on the same side here but I should point out that A Modest Proposal is by Jonathan Swift (author of Gulliver's Travels). Adam Smith wrote The Wealth of Nations.

Brain fart, thanks!

Should have remembered considering I have read both.

OK WE GET IT YOUR GAY AND YOUR PROUD! fuck off already. get back into your closet and touch eachother in there.

I think they just overdo it wiht this in your face "im gay" shit. and then they want to have gay olympics? ok so you want to be treated the same but yet you segregate yourselves. I say we give them centre island, they can all live there, have a gay utopia, have their own lil gay ecosystem, start agay city with gay rules and drive gay cars. Hell we'll even consider it its own separate country.

fuck the parade! and fuck the "in your face" segment of the gay community.

+1

OH and im in no way a homophobe.. i dont have a fear of things that are the same. which is what the fucking word means to all you using it like its a gay thing.. i just strongly dislike people that make it known that they are gay. keep that shit to urself. i wish canada was like jamaica ;. peace!

Posted by Geoffb3 on Jul-03-2008 01:44:

Thumbs down

Ok this thread needs to be shut down asap,

im tiered of seeing just the title, this is not a if dont like it dont go thing, this thread is getting obnoxious.

Please realize that the Gay community has every right to have this week as this day and age people arnt really all that accepting everywhere. If the organizers want to Lead this community and have a parade, and go through all the legal channels of gaining permits and such then by all means. If you want to through a Parade for many of the other issues in this thread by all means it would be great for you to try/ do that.

This event makes national news, and sometimes international, it has great range, which in this time it makes Toronto a Huge Tourist Attraction. Which is great for the Toronto Economy. Also its So Big and In Toronto we really are So accepting its grown to have a great reputation.

I figured id right my opinion since i was posting to show my disgust for this thread.

This thread seems just to get people pissed off, and is all jokes, however its annoying and insulting to many now.

if canada were like jamaica we would have an avg of 1200 ppl murdered every year, is that what u want canada to be? do u want ppl in canada living in shacks?

ppl in jamaica are fucking dumb, b/c they are close minded goofs. instead of protesting gay ppl, how about u stop killing eachother? i dont know, just a thought.

your right.. but the gay people there dont make it known that they are gay.. and thats how it should be... if i was walking down the street with my child and there was a gay guy holding hands with another man or kissing. i would definitely not want my kid to see that disgusting shit.

It's not just pure jokes from the opposing side here

People who don't like the "in-your-face shove-a-dildo-in-my-ass-on-a-float-down-main-street" display have just as much right to express their opinion as the avid Pride supporters.

Open homosexuality is something very new when one considers the public sphere - there will be friction and opposition for years to come.

Thumbs up on throwing your opinion down here - but you have to let the opposing side give theirs without your disdain.

I can't stand when the opposing side to a minority group undergoes intense criticism simply because of this hyperbolically inflated sense of "minority rights" that (imo) is plaguing the justice system today.

i think the opposing side totally has a right to make their point..but there are some people on here spewing hate..albeit jokingly but some of the shit just shouldn't be said....if ur gonna oppose..make a valid point or argument..show that you have actually thought about ur stance...

Okay some things there are extreme, most of us here have seen much worse. and its a well publicized event, it really is not like people dont know about it and cant avoid it, come on its no easy to get through the crowds to see most of the parade at time anyways...

And fine I have no problem with toning it down, However this thread has alot of what people would consider hate and half baked thoughts ( which are usually okay for posting) however this is a subject that should be handled with a certain amount of Care and Thought
