If its going to happen this year on a weekend it will have to be either November 21-22...or December 12-13. That is unless we get a XMAS gift and its DEC 26-27.

Or, simply different - and there isn't anything wrong with that.

I sincerely hope not. I wasn't planning on hanging around this iceberg during ballsnap season.

All this talk about comparisons between bands and djs aside, the core point is that ranking a musician against others to find out who is "the best" is still a mind numbingly dense feat to go after.

Posted by kaniz on Oct-28-2008 12:18:

People like to confuse "favorite" with "best".

However, the "Best" thing isn't necessarily unique to the EDM scene. You have people going off on who the best guitarist is, the best drummer is, the best bass player, etc. However, it's more "best instrument player" than "best band"

The first post didn't ask who the favorite was, it asked who was most influential in terms of label, DJ shows, touring, etc. I think it's a fair question, and Richie is a fair contender.

I'm talking in reference to the thread title

LOL

So I get home from a shit day at work, fire up the tv to the nightly Knight Rider re-run (just missed A-Team) and guess what track is playing during the opening scene?!

I thought it sounded familiar! But it was missing the mighty addition of Spastik lol

Listened to Hawtin's set from Halloween 2001, it's brilliantly played and has such a wide range of styles.

I don't like him all the time, but when he shows his true skill and range he's no doubt one of the best.

And very nice to hear that he might be coming to town (and hopefully brings some friends).

crossing my fingers that I'll get to see him at WMC this year if he doesn't end up coming here first....

More classic Richie-ness! <3

Anal pinching at 1:53

Massive makeout on floor with blonde during set, followed by jager (same party)

Ahhh, Bar25. Where the party goes from Thursday night until Tuesday morning every weekend in the summer.

Oh, how I wish it was open when I was in Berlin.

Are you sure that's the same event? the vids I posted looked like a way bigger venue from the looks of it.

Nice!

Just know that if you extend your trip, you may not get in. They turn a lot of people away at the door for no apparent reason.

You have mentioned that about a few places now. What is up with that policy? Seems strange to me, especially cause there has to be some patter or reasoning behind it.

Naw i heard this as well about a few places in Berlin...
I think Watergate was one of them (Graham?).
Its one of those things where capacity is limited so they may just choose ppl that they deem "appropriate" or "cool".
Also avoids a lotta youngans comin' in.

Berghain, Bar25, Watergate, and Weekend are known for doing it. They have so many people that want to go that they can get away with it. It does suck becuase there doesn't seem to be any reason for it (except for drunk Brits). Given all of that once you do get it you do feel differently and you do notice the great vibe in the clubs.
