LOVEBIRDS - live @ betalounge - 1/19/2008
http://ftp.vinylgruve.com/lovebirds_betalounge.mp3

2008 has been a good year for Lovebirds, the solo project of Hamburg resident Sebastian ‘Basti’ Doering. A handful of excellent 12"releases on Winding Road, Freerange, Buzzin Fly and Glossy was received by the global deep house and neo-disco community with open arms. If you wanna find out why artists like Tom Middleton, Jimpster, Prins Thomas or Ashley Beedle are huge Lovebirds fans check this show from January 2008. It's Lovebirds stuff all the way...lots of it still unreleased. Nice one!

great, epic and fluffy music. funky, groovy, relaxing. with a touch of the 80's.
and, although its (imo) totally different from e.g. an Abadi set, or Shur-I-Kan, this totally fits in this topic.
thnx for bringing it up
(never heard of lovebirds btw!)

I've been listening to A LOT of old school/french influenced/diva/funky/jacking/disco/occasionally booty house lately, and I mean A LOT. Stuff like vintage Strictly Rhythm/Nervous/Classic/Dance Mania/NRK/Cajual/Peacefrog. But theres also a couple of nice labels putting out decent stuff like it nowadays or not too long ago, like:

Aroma
Jackin' Tracks
Dust Traxx
Fetish
Greenskeepers
Drop Music
Lingo
Eighttrax
Bid Muzik
Farris Wheel
Control Recordings
Bombay
Classic
Hudd Traxx
Robsoul
LowDown
Guesthouse
Amenti
So Sound
Shrewd
Downsouth
Fluential
Flatpack Traxx

and obviously a couple of guys putting out decent stuff now:

Matt Soda
The Floorfillerz
DJ Sneak
Derrick Carter
James Curd
Todd Terry
Todd Edwards
The Littlemen
Jason Hodges
DJ Pierre
Roy Davis Jr.
Inland Knights
Tommy Largo
Ricardo Rae
1200 Warriors
Greenskeepers
Sean Biddle
Gene Farris
Joey Youngman
White Collar Criminals
Eddie Leader
Oriental Funk Stew
Jay West
Tim Fuller
Fred Everything (as elfreak said)
Bryan Jones (occasionally)
The Funk Monkeys
The Sound Republic

and then there is the vintage:

Bob Sinclar
Paul Johnson
Van Helden and his aliases
Le Knight Club
Cajmere/Green Velvet
Gemini
MAW
Studio 54
CZR
Stonebridge
...

I'm not sure if it's been posted or not (I didn't spend the time to go through all the posts) but I think that Eddie Thoneick & Kurd Maverick - Love Sensation (Eddie Thoneick's Sensation Remix)is the biggest disco diva sampling house bomb I've heard in a while.

I wasn't around or into music in that Strictly Rhythm/Nervous/Maw era so with me it's me getting into something new or old for that matter. I love it.
