The building has 8 - double 18" bins. We had to tune them down last night as they were clipping and blowing breakers. Dynacord IMO should have setup 2 more crown amps for the bottom end.

We fixed the bottom end bottom problem by tuning the, down during deko-zes set. Also our floor is a floating floor (old theatre) good on the feet and great for dancing but you do lose some bottom end underneath.

We will deff be playing with our system. Sound engineer is coming in next week to re-tweak. I just wish the room was every so bigger to allow a 4 corner setup.

Thanks for the kind words and great ear for sound!

I didn't see the final audio setup, but I'm pretty sure it was close last time I was there.

I was kind of surprised you guys didn't have anything hung from the ceiling throwing toward the dancefloor. Like all things sound-wise though, you never really know how it sounds until the room is full. It's early days.

There was ZERO problems with Highs. No need for flying. Stacks work fine. Add a couple more crown amps and bass will be heavier because the equipment is there. I am impressed it was heard as I am the only one (and the tech) that knew they were being dialed down.

I couldn't see this from the pictures, but where's the bar and where's the bathrooms?

Trying to get a feel for how hard it will be to get to each of them when the club is full lol

It's actually laid out really well. The bars are on the side and there's an upstairs area that leads to the washrooms. There's also washrooms at the back of the main floor by the entrance. I'm not sure where seating ended up because again, I didn't see the final thing last night.

Ryan was kind enough to let me get a sneak peak a few weeks ago.

Oh I'm not arguing with you. I was just surprised to see nothing hanging in a room like that. It is a former theatre, so I'd assume the acoustics are already somewhat decent?

It was hard to tell with my little PC speakers. Haha.

are the same people who threw that party behind beta??

Yeah it just seemed like something was missing for me and I just couldn't fully get into it. Very good for first time going though, I have faith you guys have some killer gear in there! I'll be excited to hear how the tweaks work out!

Wow that looks awesome. I can't wait to check it out.

Just a friendly Warning. There is about 100 tickets left for Gareth Emery and I do expect this to be sold out very very shortly.

Is there anything happening this weekend at beta? And when will you guys be getting liscensed? Looking forward to a closer party spot than always trekking Toronto.

Just noticed Avicii and Steve Aoki added to the Beta lineup for January. This is nuts. I don't want to be one of those "everything good belongs in the epicentre of Canada, Toronto!!" people so I'm not going to go that route. It's cool to do something different and I think that's what Beta is after here.

But that being said it poses a real problem for people located in Toronto that want to get down there. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to take advantage of something like a partnership with a hotel there for discounted rates, organised bus trips, or even a page for linking others up with carpooling for those going who have extra room. It's getting hard to see these bookings (Steve Angello, Gareth Emery, Avicii, Steve Aoki in 2 months?!) and not be able to hit them up easily... Not trying to whine but I know my friends and myself and you can't find a DD in the bunch of us. Alternative solutions would be nice. =)

Beta opens trying to get Waterloo people to stay in town for the weekend. Beta ends up getting Toronto to come to Waterloo. Bwahahahahahah. There is so much win in this comment.

do what people from KW have done for decades....either find a DD or get a hotel room for the night..or you could just hook up with some university slut for the night.

HAHAHAHA, I'll take that last option...

As a Waterloanian...or whatever a person from Waterloo is called...i have little faith in the club scene. People in KW still aren't exposed to the right kind of electronic music. Caesar's, Starlight, Tyrones etc, all have the same kind of stuff playing every week (top 40, poppy house music). Would be a big deal if BETA works out and some big DJ's come by and come frequently. As much as I hate his music, Joel would certainly do a number on KW and help it become something for club goers.

As per university sluts, just go to Phil's across from Wilfred Laurier. If you don't mind the smell of rotting puke every week, then this is your place.

Avicii just played here a month ago and playing again on 31st
I believe Aoki was here not so long
we get them in Toronto as well

If I was back in Uni. I'd totally get a ride with someone and hit these events up, but being one of the working folk, Thursday nights and out of town = not happening any time soon :\

well, there is always the Purple Room... apparently the old Vault lounge is going to have EDM nights as well.

does starlight still exist?

Yes, though it's full of hipster kids.

not yet....the place has been sitting empty except for Angello. They are opening for Emery even if they don't have the license. It doesn't seem likely they will be open before christmas
