Yea cause literally not taking weekends, spending almost my entire day involved in this venture, dealing with a business partner who decided to go mental after his mom passed away, working on barely any money, and having a user base of retards who can't do anything but complain about "broken" things that are PEBCAK and have been explained 20,000 times before, and inducing two panic attacks is totally living like a 17 year old.

Fuck I wish it was like when I was 17. Shit was more fun in high school. I'd trade being back in HS for this.

On the other hand, we've won an award, been mentioned in gaming media numerous times, and I have been approached with multiple job offers, so I guess its not all that bad. At some point though this thing needs to turn a profit.

Well no, we were stupid and signed a deal for royalty payments on distribution, which was fine because we were on track to have a promotable product quickly, but then my business partners mom died and he became an emo wreck for almost 2 years, spiraling into a drunken mess last winter when we were approaching a couple different firms for VC. So a project that was too big for two people a year ago (we were looking for VC to hire at least two more programmers) had one person working on it for the last year. Now he is finally sober and back, but yea, we are locked in a contract for distribution that prevents us from selling our assets easily, and he burned a couple bridges in terms of approaching people for capital by basically being drunk on conference calls.

So its a little bit more complicated than that.

I did, but no, I am glad I didn't take it. First off Florida sucks. I would never want to live there. Its a shitpit beyond comparison.

Second, a good friend of mine took a position at the same company about two months ago. From everything he has said, it sounds like it would have ended up sucking. Turn over rate is less than 2 years there (not a single person on the design or programming staff has been there over 2 years), and it aint because the work is hard.

Thirdly, I would have had to give up the project I was already contractually involved in... Which minus the fact that I had already put a solid year of work into it, would mean legal difficulties in maintaining that contract.

All in all it ended up not being worth it.

Well obviously living at home with your parents is a much better opportunity than taking a well paying job.
