oh either one, i don't mean they wouldn't have skills..i just mean it would be a lot less fun to have a b/f who spun hip hop b/c i don't like that stuff...it would mean i'd have to listen to it, bleh...

dammit i wish my stantons had that kind of lever thing. so far i have been able to prevent anyone from touching the needles though...i keep a close eye on my dex when other people are around...although it's touch b/c whenever someone comes over, they go "oooohhhhhh" and walk straight over to the tables and start touching!!! why are you flipping the xfader and changing eqs when it's not even on, and there's no records on the dex?? eeee!!

it would be nice to have a b/f who is mystified by what i do...but after a while i bet he would get sick of me talking about it. and he probably wouldn't understand that i want to practice everyday for hours and would rather do that then go to a restaurant, or the movies.

Posted by DjJade on Apr-15-2003 02:26:

just take out the needles when youre not using them

Posted by DJ Chrono on Apr-15-2003 03:09:

but that requires effort

Posted by mikefasssy on Apr-15-2003 05:01:

excess effort = should be avoided at all times

Posted by djdawn on Apr-15-2003 08:02:

back on topic please! why don't we start a "Female DJs on TA" thread?

oh, forgot to mention, MY setup is better than yours!

in case you were wondering, I have 6 arms with 2 hands on each arm, and 4 ears. not to mention the two brains needed to coordinate all that.

He can spin 3 tracks at once AND wank at the same time.

I agree with staying on this female DJ discussion....I would love to date a beauty with headphones. Such a turn on to see a woman mix music...Umm, DJ Rap~!

you know, i did the same thing when i wanted to be a DJ, but didn't yet have any equipment. I remember seeing my friends crappy Gemini, and tweaking the knobs, just because i wanted to see how they felt, how much resitance there was etc. and now, i know there are so many people that would love to DJ, but don't have equipment i invite them over to spin. I just make sure to do that trick with the needles, and not let them spin my good records.

yeah i think there a whole lot more people out there who want to be djs or who are atleast interested in the whole scene and music but are absolutely clueless as to where to begin. wow... i remember this time last year i thought i was so cool when i finally found atomix. lol... and the first few things i tried to mix were like... darude into a popular atb song or soemthing. hehe.

i think a big problem right now...atleast for me before i began to spin... is that alot of djs have too much pride to take time to talk to a noob. i woudl go out and try to talk to people at small parties who were into the scene but they were so cliquish and the dj was even rude...then there was that awkward moment where he stops talking or listening starts mixing and im kinda just standing there like... i donno.

some people in my hall at school have already walked in to talk to me and to tell me that they like the music but do not knwo where to learn...especially since i live in nashville,tn. im thinking about starting some sort of dj club to educate people about everything becuase i knwo there are plenty more out there who are just afraid or intimidated by people who think they know so much. [sorry i had bad experience trying to talk to...experienced people]

i think TA is really what got me into the whole thing. its really nice to have this sort of connection with people who are exactly like me. well not exactly but its a whole lot better than trying to find a group like this in every day life. thats why i come in so much and try as much as i can to help the new ones. [even though im still realtively new hehe]

erm. No.

I thought I made it obvious this isn't MY setup by placing lots of and in my post.

Also, there are at least 8 MOS labels on this picture, AND I don't think anybody here has "his" private setup in front of a dancefloor.
I just thought it was a very cool pic of a setup.

Also, I posted my setup in this thread already so there was no intention to be a show-off at all...

here it is again:

now go ahead and make funny comments on this one

hmm where i live all the djs stick to each we all get along fairly well. I even learned to scratch from a few local djs that are absolutely insane...ehehe i remember my first mix it was fibbonacci sequence into expander.......lol i remember when i first got my tables i didnt know you were suposed to use the pitch sliders to slow/speed the record soo i was just using my hands...LOL still cracks me up...least i start with good tunes though(perty much all the tunes on gu13)
