What clothing/gear is appropriate? Welding gloves and googles good enough?

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Aug-11-2015 17:01:

Just give a Chinese guy 10 bucks. He will extract all the food from your attic. Once again, not joking.

Posted by Zoso on Aug-11-2015 17:28:

LOL, well, seeing as how I am in the ass end of the woods on the border of Middle/East Tennessee, I am not sure how much luck I will have finding said Chinese guy.

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Aug-11-2015 17:40:

They are there..trust me. They are everywhere...like bats.

Posted by Zoso on Aug-11-2015 17:45:

So maybe rather than a family of bats in the attic, I have a family of Chinks? Does that reduce the overall risk of rabies to me and the kids?

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Aug-11-2015 17:50:

Yes...disentery, no.

People in the Northern Hemisphere, this fuckin Swift-Tuttle meteor shower is incredible!!!

Was just at the small airport in my city, laying on the tarmac and saw some fuckin awesome meteors for an hour. It's too cold to stay out longer though. :/

Posted by OrangestO on Aug-13-2015 04:46:

I just read about that. States that the best viewing time will be just before dawn on August 13.

Those sound like ideal conditions for you. I'd stay out there all night freezing my ass off watching.

I'm going to try to wake up (or stay up) to catch it tomorrow AM.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-13-2015 05:21:

Ugh just before dawn. Too bad I'm not actually at work tonight, lol.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-13-2015 14:14:

I'm still in awe about the meteor shower. I'm not really a bucket list kind of person, but if I had one I def would have had to put "watch live meteor shower" on it and then cross it off. So cool!!

meteor showers are my favourite showers. i get more clean than when using wata

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-13-2015 15:02:

We're actually heading up North tonight for the weekend and will have even better viewing, even though it peaked last night.

We're gonna go here:

Fuck. Why did I think tomorrow was Friday the 13th. I missed it

But yea, totally cool stuff. I love the cosmos. I saw the Aurora Borealis in northern Ontario a decade ago. So beautiful.

Never seen a Meteor shower in person, it looks like i should check one out sometime. If there is one here.

You can still view it tonight and until the end of the week starting at 10pm EST and best viewing, like last night, is between 2-4 am/before dawn.

There's one every August. If you're in the Northern hemisphere (I assume you are), you just need to keep track of the dates because I'm not sure it happens every 365 days - it's probably one of those movable events like Easter.

I've always tried to see those buggers here, but I guess I'm too down South to see a proper show

Hopefully still get a good show! I'm staying up for it tonight.
