cognoscente is actually a noun; it doesn't refer to knowing, but a person who knows.

being italian i presume its pronunciation, cog-no-sen-tay is quite different to cognisant. if you haven't heard a person pronounce it differently there's a good chance they're as ignorant as you are.

dig up.

Well you got me.

Enough random bullshitting for now. Glad to have wasted your time.

Sometimes I wonder if the law is written only by miserable people.

Why is it rubbish? It is just a contract essentially, the same as any other. There is such things as common law marriages too, that are not voluntary in some places as well (in that if you have been a couple for X number of years you are now considered the same as a married couple), those might be more suitable to your tastes?

I think its important, especially in regards to child rearing. It provides a safety net for the children (ideally).

Hence why I said legal people must be miserable.

If people say they're together just to evade taxes, have joint bank accounts, or whatever, nothing stops them from telling the government they're married for the same reason - even when it's a blatant lie.

Yeah, I believe these laws are better. You're living together, you're married. Full stop, no hassle.

The amount of bureaucracy involved is overwhelming

A parent is a parent, I don't see why the legal system needs any more laws if you're already responsible for having brought someone into this world.

Things not looking good for Australia right now

Posted by Joss Weatherby on May-07-2013 05:29:

PKC is in Tasmania, if you were to compare it to how the US is laid out it'd be the Guam, not even the Hawaii of Australia.

For you UK folks, it'd be like Ascension Island, but more depressing.

I prefer the map where the island doesn't exist.

I considered that possibility, however it would make your comment even more nonsensical so I dismissed the notion.

Seriously? Because not everyone who is responsible for having brought someone into this world is actually "responsible".

Your reference according to Google has to do specifically the shape of pubic hair. The island looking like bush. I'd prefer no island.

*edit*

Fuck you auto correct.

Legally responsible, I mean. If your name is there as a parent on the birth certificate, I don't see how having marriage on top of it should change anything. I'm pretty sure children born out of wedlock are entitled to some rights if you know who the father is, aren't they?

Posted by wotyzoid on May-07-2013 07:21:

Yes. I thought you believe those laws were obsolete or something, but now I understand what you're saying.

Posted by Lira on May-07-2013 07:26:

I don't even mind marriage that much (though I do believe it's redundant now more than anything), it's just the bureaucracy down here that is incredibly annoying

Not going to lie, I fully LOL'd at this.

By the way, I've just been to the hospital. I was wearing my pyjamas the whole time. It's 4:00 AM.

Who said Brasilia doesn't have an awesome night life? It was glorious, I say. Glorious!

Posted by wotyzoid on May-07-2013 09:04:

You ok?

And Brazil for some odd reason has a lot of stupid paper work for a lot of stupid shit. My mom is always dealing with whole packets of shit from the consulate but whenever we take care of paper work from here it's always like one or two pages. Makes no sense to me.

Posted by Psyshell on May-07-2013 12:24:

PKC certainly acts like a Tasmanian.
