I happen to be (slightly) 'above average' at NFL Fantasy, is anyone running a league here on TA?

We all know Aristotle's wife Catherine, or Catty for short, was the first to study the nature of perfection. Or, as she insisted to say, purrfection, after fighting Plato's mother in the first ever recorded catfight.

Fantasy World:

A fantasy world is a fictional universe used in fantasy novels and games. Typical worlds involve magic or magical abilities[1] and often, but not always, either a medieval or futuristic theme. Some worlds may be a parallel world tenuously connected to Earth via magical portals or items; a fictional Earth set in the remote past or future; or an entirely independent world set in another universe.[2]
Many fantasy worlds draw heavily on real world history, geography and sociology, and also on mythology and folklore.

Rather than creating their own fantasy world, many authors choose to set their novels in Earth's past. In order to explain the absence of miraculous elements, authors may introduce "a retreat of magic" (sometimes called "thinning") that explains why the magic and other fantastic elements no longer appear:[21] For example, in The Lord of the Rings, the destruction of the One Ring not only defeated Sauron, but destroyed the power of the Three Rings of the elves, resulting in their sailing into the West at the end of the story. Larry Niven details the idea in The Magic Goes Away, as an allegory for a modern-day energy crisis. A retreat can also be used as a plot device in a non-Earth setting, such as the diminishing of the Spirit-skills in Zilpha Keatley Snyder's Green Sky Trilogy.
A contemporary fantasy necessarily takes place in what purports to be the real world, and not a fantasy world. It may, however, include references to such a retreat. J. K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them explains that wizards eventually decided to conceal all magic creatures and artifacts from non-magic users.

I'm in two money leagues this year. I've been on a waiting list for three years to get into one of them, where the jackpot is a couple grand.

I'm down to do a TA league, though, if enough people are interested.

I wonder who the most polarizing member is on TA.

To me it looked more like "Nigga, please", but now that you mention it, what's this yellow stuff on my shirt?!

And lol at Lira's utter failure: answering a cat reaction image by mixing sleeping pills into and ugly dog's food.

You know, sometimes the way the Japanese immigrants think really irks me. I bought something from a lady that cost 9 reais. I gave her a 10 real bill and didn't even check how much change she gave me as I'm very trusting of others. When I got home, however, I noticed she had given me 2 reais.

Today I saw her and told her I had to give her back 1 real, because she gave me the wrong change. She was puzzled, and said she didn't even remember. I then explained what happened in detail, and when I handed her the money that didn't really belong to me, she accepted and then said "Wow, that's very Japanese of you!".

No, that's called being honest, and I know my fair share of dishonest immigrants...

Posted by Meat187 on Aug-07-2012 19:45:

I would have kept the money and been happy for the whole day about it.

Am I a bad person?

Posted by Lira on Aug-07-2012 20:10:

Yes. Verily. And the lady would never recognise you as being Japanese, so you'll never be fully integrated in the way she sees parapara culture.

Pah, egoism for the win, I say. Nothing tastes sweeter than the ice cream that I buy from the additional money.

And that naive believe in honesty and virtue is why I consider you a hippie, btw.

A similar thing happened to my bf at the grocery store. He was using the self check out and noticed when he left that he had much much more money in change than he knew he was supposed to have. Realizing that the person before him obviously forgot to take their change, he went back to the store and gave it to one of the clerks.

Yes, there is, Herr Möchtegern Nietzsche. The ice cream I buy with the money I worked for

It's anything but naive, and I'm definitely acting in my own self-interest.

Wait, and this is the reason why you reckon I'm a hippy? And I was thinking it had something to do with me studying philosophy and linguistics, what was I thinking?

I believe it's a lot more common than we imagine, and I'm quite sure many more people around here would do that as well. The reason, I believe, why we think this is rare is simply because bad behaviour tends to be more shocking and thus gets more attention.

Edit: As Jenny's post confirms.
