Even my parents and a few of their friends were trying to get me to be an RN as well, but I just didn't want to "go with the flow" because my heart wasn't in it. I probably wouldn't have even entered health care if it wasn't for the recession, that shit changed everything here. But at least by that point, I had a high interest in drugs that handling large volumes of them seemed cool. So far, it still is.

Oh yeah? Don't start taking them like candy now lol.

Wow, I don't usually have trouble talking to other people, specially when it's just small talk, but there's this guy married to a former student of mine that makes me wonder whether we even belong to the same species.

Right after he added me on Facebook (don't really know why, though I accepted his request because of my former student) he would sometimes get annoyed by some jokes in my status updates, taking everything literally (even a parody I wrote against the invasion of the Dean's office a couple of years ago, in which - and this makes sense in the context - I claimed I could develop Skynet with liquid nitrogen and raw beans). Fair enough, I'm not the funniest person in the world and not everyone shares my sense of humor... but even when I'm serious I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall.

He swamps me with messages and tonight, out of courtesy, I replied to one about a film they're currently screening here. When I told him I didn't quite like the film because the book was better, and asked him if he read it, he said he only looked it up on google but then started lecturing me about the book... even though I told him I read it. How could he skip the only sentence I wrote?!

I wonder if this is assburgers.

Well which film was it. he may be right, sometimes the movie can be better than the book

Posted by Lira on Sep-10-2012 13:18:

It's a very obscure film: "Dirty Hearts/Corações Sujos", about the civil war in the Japanese colony here in Brazil after WWII.

But the thing is, why would he tell me about the main ideas of a book I told him I've already read? It's like you told him you come from the capital of Slovene and he proceeded to talk about all the obvious things people know about Ljubljana. Such as "there are traffic lights, and the traffic signs are in Slovene".

You don't say?

Our cat is all full of mats, so tomorrow I'm taking him to the groomers to be shaved like a lion.

Been in turkey for over a week now... I think I get the gist of this place and now I wanna go home haha. I'm a shitty traveller I think. Greek and roman ruins do nothing for me.

The most fun I have had this trip was laying on the beach today in Patara for 8 hours listening to old Oakenfold EMs and watching hot euro chicks sun tan.

I just fired someone for stealing from me. I initially became suspicious totally by accident. About ten days ago late one night, as i was leaving my business (at a much earlier time than i normally do), i saw an employee running to his car with a bag. I thought that it was weird so i looked at my surveillance video to see what he was up to prior to him ending his shift.

About an hour earlier he had put merchandise (worth about $50)in the trash, and because he took the trash out, i surmised that he had retrieved it.

So since then i began to prepare to fire him. I carefully monitored his every move. I also began to research the law concerning my obligations and strategies to reduce any legal liability. And then last night he did the same thing! So I had to act today, when I wanted to do it friday.

For the past few days I had all of these things running through my mind of what i would tell him, and how i would do it but when it came time, i was sort of rushed. But he never saw saw it coming. At first he denied it, but then i offered to show him the video footage, and then he just acquiesced to the situation. I'm not really happy about it because now i'm short handed and he's unemployed. Lose lose situation.

Sucks to hear that, mate.

I guess you had no other viable option, since you wouldn't be able to trust him and he would probable believe that no matter how much he stole, you'd let him get away with it.

The people I know who have stolen goods from their workplace are the laziest and most self-entitled people I've ever come across. This one "friend" of my brother stole over 10 thousand dollars of computer goods from the company he used to work for (his house looked like an Apple Store after a couple of weeks), and he used to say he only did that because "everybody else does it".

The guy is simply retarded though. The most awesome thing he ever did was start dating a random girl in order to make the girl he liked jealous, invite both of them to Brazil (they live in the Czech Republic) and then get angry when the third-wheel girl - whom he fancied - became frustrated that he would treat her like crap and decided to stay the whole time at my brother's.

You do realise that people actually do that right. Ok, not about traffic lights, but they start explaining some incredibly mundane or obvious stuff with such ferocity and excitement that you dont have the heart to tell them "yeah, everybody here knows/has done that"

No, but he's truly special. Believe me, no one I've ever met can do it like he does - it's like he cranks up this natural tendency to eleven!
