UK related now,

I've done some meditating, some random sittings in front of the telly watching the BBC which is the only source of British media in America. Sky Network on the Apple TV is awesome, but I don't have an Apple TV. I have a PS Vita though, I wonder if I could use that.

Anyways, there was a show about a statistician from NY who had predicted Obama's re-election (the arrival of the antichrist himself, what a feat). Once in the UK he found it really hard to decipher who the Brits would vote for.

Those interviewed seemed, in my opinion, pretty 'distrustful' and to be honest with you, they came across as a bunch of nonchalant liars.

You know, from my experience with Britons. Most good, but others not so good. I've come to realize that, yeah, the Brits are not really trustworthy. Either they like to play games with people because they are inherently distrustful of each other, or i have no idea what...but something ya know.

I dunno, but

You know, it's interesting to hear this; When I first got here I realized that people believe everything you say, simply because of the accent and that we sound so serious.

But in terms of trustworthiness, the majority of people I knew in the UK growing up and even now (save one or two) were/are in hindsight the flakeyest and most unreliable. i'm also not talking about isolated groups - I mean across business relationships, close friends, passing acquaintances, teachers, etc.

Now I live in LA, the place where the stereotype is superfical/fake people, I have a large group of friends and business aquantences that I can relay on without question. Sure there's the odd shark or weirdo, but honestly, I experience a completely different level of personal integrity.

maybe it's a case of the sane ones sticking together, or that the ideology of no class system (even though there really is one here albeit related to money or job etc) means people rely on their own moral compass more.

One american friend just said to me the other day after working for a Brit company out here, that she felt fooled by the accent, that most Brits she dealt with have little to no fiber when it comes to integrity or not being a flake.

Suer these are sweeping generalizations, but honestly, even a lot of the Brits I meet out here (again, save a couple of close friends) are just blaggers and bullshitters. Again, maybe that has to do with the reasons they are in the the US or specifically LA. Fuck knows, but the phenomenon is there.

I'm guessing you just know shitty people.

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on May-11-2015 17:33:

Maybe I just know shitty people as well, but the Brits here tend to be a special shade of chav. Not painting everyone the same, but man, they have mind problems (at least the ones I have met). They are mostly failing here as well.

In England, does everyone still get a trophy? Entitled without any gumption. The only successful Brit I know here is wildly successful; he attended school in France.

My father does a lot of business with the British and he's of the same impression. Uptight people who think rules don't apply to them.

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on May-11-2015 18:11:

It's almost as if they think they still hold hegemonial rights for "accomplishments" 200 years ago.

They don't stop talking about it.

If my dreams come true they will put me in against a friendly game against real madrid and I will have a chance to end CR7's Career with an illegal tackle to the back of the knee
