Good point. And rich people from LA like their handbag dogs.

After 4 weeks I finally got the big red tank back from the shop. New valves, lifters, sparkplugs, leads, gaskets, springs, cams, injectors, ported and polished heads. Has enough torque across the entire rev range to drag out a tree stump

I am in so much trouble if someone finds out that it wasn't actually broken in the first place

Posted by Ian on Mar-07-2012 07:15:

haha. Petrolhead. On engines, mine is at it's best for 10 years now, down to a weight I've not seen since 2001. Still a way to go but I'm in the zone right now.

LOL

Did you take it for a "proper" spin yet?

Posted by Lilith on Mar-07-2012 08:57:

If you mean lighting it up through 1st, 2nd and 3rd (ran out of road for 4th) inappropriately in public, then yes.

Otherwise it will have to wait for the weekend where I can find somewhere comparatively cop-free as I've not got a lot of points left on the licence. The next 'challenge' is getting away with two larger turbos, intercoolers, new radiator, fuel pump and an engine management system. Unfortunately that comes into the 'irresponsible' amount of money bracket that will be noticed and I've already played the "you broke my last 400hp car" card for something else.

(I worry Ian considers his arse an engine)

Posted by Ian on Mar-10-2012 11:13:

haha. My legs are my engine. If I want to go anywhere, I use them generally.

Btw why is it whenever Guns N Roses - Welcome to the jungle comes onto winamp, I think of Jake. DAMN YOU JAKE.

You got that upside down. Americans will nearly always go with the one that's cheaper. If they didn't, you wouldn't see people sueing doctors for fucking up their 200 bucks Lasik treatment.

I'd really like to know what religion Para Para artists usually have, though.

I'd say they're nominally Shinto-Buddhist, which is quite a mess because Buddhism is atheistic and Shinto's got more Gods than the CORe has alts.

So they're, in general, de facto atheists. Shinto received a major blow when Japan surrendered in WWII... and they're not ardent Buddhists either.

Come to think of it, that's why I guess they dealt with the tsunami in a very different way compared to Christian countries.

I was a bit overwhelmed back then with the demonstrations of religiosity in Brazil whenever something happened. People here are quick to blame God for everything, from major landslides to finding your car keys. It was quite a relief for me when the Japanese refrained from mentioning anything supernatural: there were no call to prayers, no demonstrations of faith, or anything that didn't involve being scared to death and eager to get everything back to normal.

I've finally relented and going about the process of buying a bigger house for us to live in, there are some real bargains about which makes this decision easier... course actually going through the motions of moving and parting with cash I'll leave until the last minute. Actually like my current house but its too full

Best to get out while you still can. Those pool steps would have eventually killed you

I would like a another kitty but its a bit hard to find the right one and three kids also have 2 dogs. Small, useless yippy maltese things and not pussycat friendly.
Place I'm looking at is on flat ground instead of the side of a flipping hill like this one, don't like the garden or lack thereof, but it does have a bigger pool.

I'm in the Netherlands again to launch some extrenely important clinical study. So today I smoked some weed before work and am now typing my first high TA post from the clinic.

I reckon I could finally beat you in Chess about right now.

Posted by ziptnf on Mar-21-2012 12:52:

Ah, speaking of the Netherlands, I've been struggling with Coca-Cola customers from there. Essentially I have an document mapping interface that handles customers from four different countries (GB/FR/NL/BE) and for some reason, my interface was removing their banking information and marking them for deletion (basically saying they weren't actually customers)! There was also a case where almost 240,000 customers didn't even make it to their end destination, they fucking vanished!
