I don't want to get too into the plot, but I generally think the world is much more thought out than Snow Crash. It deals more with the end of nation-states and what replaces them than Snow Crash, as well as the end (or lack thereof) of consumerism following the invention of, basically, unlimited 3D printing. Also big themes of nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, inequality, education, and a few others.

The plot isn't as action-packed as Snow Crash, which is a good thing in my opinion, but the world Stephenson creates is much richer and interesting. Actually thought provoking, at least for me. His conception of economics in a world with unlimited basic supplies and the geopolitical struggle over resources that still remains, even with no more nation-states as traditionally conceived, is quite fun stuff.

For someone claiming to have intellectual superiority over other members of this board, that was probably the least intellectual post put on this forum this year.

I found a new job last week and start on Wednesday. I low-balled my "desired salary" when I was applying and they came back with a figure waaay higher than what I thought I would be able to get. Seems like a nice place to work as well.

Parabéns! Out of curiosity, is it related to philosophy in any way?

Edit: Wait, you said the salary is good, I've just realised this would be a contradiction

Nou is so full of himself. The cor is alive and well Without his presence. I don't dislike Nou, I just like proving a point to very arrogant people with God complexes.

"I Love You, California"

I love you, California, you're the greatest state of all.
I love you in the winter, summer, spring and in the fall.
I love your fertile valleys; your dear mountains I adore.
I love your grand old ocean and I love her rugged shore.

When the snow crowned Golden Sierras
Keep their watch o'er the valleys bloom,
It is there I would be in our land by the sea,
Every breeze bearing rich perfume.
It is here nature gives of her rarest. It is Home Sweet Home to me,
And I know when I die I shall breathe my last sigh
For my sunny California.

I love your red-wood forests - love your fields of yellow grain.
I love your summer breezes and I love your winter rain.
I love you, land of flowers; land of honey, fruit and wine.
I love you, California; you have won this heart of mine.

I love your old gray Missions - love your vineyards stretching far.
I love you, California, with your Golden Gate ajar.
I love your purple sun-sets, love your skies of azure blue.
I love you, California; I just can't help loving you.

I love you, Catalina, you are very dear to me.
I love you, Tamalpais, and I love Yosemite.
I love you, Land of Sunshine, half your beauties are untold.
I loved you in my childhood, and I'll love you when I'm old.

Oh man, you don't even get pms from people when you have them on ignore?? That's great!

I just edited my list to discover pms from 2-3 years ago, lol.

New job is great. Really like the people I work with.

But man there was a meeting today that just would not end. This dude from upper management droning on and on and on omg.

You be the judge, no matter how hard or long you have to think about it.

Just took a neuro exam on multiple sclerosis-- think I could have really fucked it up. I'm not sure. I know I've been drinking too much lately.

Oh, and my girlfriend's daughter is irritating the hell out of me.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-02-2015 20:55:

^^^

I'm taking a neuro critical care course this spring to complete my CC certification, and I'm dreading it.

Posted by Big Worm on Mar-02-2015 21:05:

Oh yeah, you're gonna have a healthy dose of MS I'm sure!

I'm in a PT program and we did stroke last semester, and this semester it's progressive degenerative pathologies.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-02-2015 21:10:

I think it's prob gonna be more like, spinal cord injury type stuff, bleeds, seizures, aneurysms, etc. But still, ughhh. I never really took to neuro.

Posted by Big Worm on Mar-02-2015 21:14:

Ah, sure. I guess I wasn't thinking about it from more of an acute care standpoint. Sure you're more likely to see more emergent situations.
