Came back from the hospital, apparently had an ocular migraine.

Weirdest thing ever, lasted a few minutes, it's like you're having a migraine, minus the headache, so it really doesn't add up. Went to the hospital terrified thinking I was having a stroke or my retina was falling off or something, but I can attest it wasn't either. Phew!

Never heard of one of those. My missus gets migraines pretty regularly, but nothing... specifically located like that.

Glad you're ok, mate. That would likely freak me out a bit, too.

did you ever see that painkiller ad?

husband and wife in bed, he hands her some headache pills.
"but i don't have a headache" says the wife.
"excellent!" replies the husband as he switches off the light.

Me neither! Luckily though, the doctor used to have them as a teenager, so she knew exactly what I was talking about... Except she did get the headaches soon afterwards, so she had the worst of my migraine and your missus'. Ouch

I've had migraines that were triggered by spending too many hrs staring at a backlight screen.

Really a terrible experience. I got the worst headache I've ever had, nausea, dizziness and my vision started to strobe.

The only thing that cured it was lying down in a quiet dark room for many hours until it subsided.

This, this is what I had! Flickering lights around the edges of the field of vision, lost focus for a while, and decided to turn off the lights to see if it would work.

It did, apparently. I guess I should consider myself lucky it didn't unleash the fiercest of headbangers inside my skull

There's a lot of really weird migraine-types out there, Lira. You may, perhaps, recall this case: http://www.today.com/id/41652808/ns...e/#.V8AyypgrKhc

I get migraines occasionally; I actually take some medicine to suppress them. Nasty things when they get through, though =/

Also, have the mods successfully dealt with the spam-bots? I've been afraid to post for the past two weeks

Whoa, I had no idea, I was seriously worried for her as I thought it was a stroke. I feel less guilty for laughing at this now

What you and IGK have described sounds truly awful, I wish they had a cure or something

We're doing our best, but they're a tough nut to crack, and they keep finding new ways to spam more and more

Ah, 2006! John Howard had a job, Brazil had no idea we would host both the Olympics and the World Cup, and TAs had hearts full of hope

September 2006, my daughter just was a couple of weeks old, time flies...

The finest Chateau of them all, IMO.

Tomorrow marks the two-year death anniversary of a close friend I served with. We had both wanted to get out of going to Iraq when our unit in Oklahoma received orders. I ended up finding a way to get booted out and he, despite his best efforts, went over there. This was almost 10 years ago. Not sure if his death was related to his time in combat or just the general health issues he dealt with, but I often reflect on it now that he's gone and I'm still here. To make matters worse, I had my FB deactivated when he was going through his troubles and died (his family won't disclose how but I'm guessing he unknowingly or knowingly killed himself). I didn't even know he died until months later when I reactivated it and mutual friends from the military were able to contact me. Anyways, I'm thinking of him today. The group of us had all planned on reuniting the last time we spoke. He left a newborn behind, too.

Sorry for your loss

Although I come from a military family, I can't even imagine how devastating war must be even to those who escape physically unscathed. I'm sure he'd be happy to know you're thinking of him

I got to imagine he's looking down right now saying "For God's sake mix in a paragraph will ya!"

you take it well. i had to kill off one of my personalities a few years ago and I'm still suffering from PTSD

I'm so happy to be renewing my wardrobe.

I'm not sure TA would approve of the switch, as I'm simply ditching my former "I'm a grunge kid stuck in the Nineties" for the look of someone who clearly listened to Skepta one too many times and became a full-on Gopnik. Adidas hoodies and tracksuits galore, like this one:

It's so damn comfy, I knew Mother Russia couldn't be wrong

Haha, so that's why it's been just 2 hours and I've already gotten the phone numbers of 3 different blokes

I know it's early yet but to complete the look you should smoke cigarettes while squatting on the street corner.

Full disclosure: I actually tried a very similar looking tracksuit, but I thought I could use some colour until I get used to the look
