I agree 100%, it is just not for me, for the reasons I listed above. As long as the person is happy with it but I for one thing her original tattoo is more orignal than to have it covered up with that kind of art.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-12-2013 15:42:

Covering it up is just one possibility, if you read my initial post. It all depends on what the artist comes up with/how she chooses to work with what's already there. Either way I am open to just about anything.

Regardless I'm super stoked. I wish I could get all done in one sitting. So impatient.

Cover ups have to be a darker color than the original. I don't know how that would work with a Japanese style piece since they usually consist mostly of bright colors.

Yeah, I had one tat that took two sessions but that was only because I was late to Austin so I had to go back.

The funny thing is that those back tattoos in Japan are basically gang tattoos. So if you ever go to Japan don't take off your shirt haha. Also you probably won't be let into any of the but most seedy public bath houses.

Ah damn.

I think flowers look more femine anyhow. JUst my 2 cents.

Yes it is and it can be sexy or femine but the picture she posted was a witch dragon that looks very masculine in my eyes.

Why am I even taken this stance? I love all tattos and think she should get what she wants. I guess I just think her original tattoo is more orignal and has personal meaning being that one of the flowers are inherant to her.

Do some other wood block print style. Just no samurai or geisha looking people cause that's where the gang affiliation comes in.

I doubt she will run with the Asian Mafia, I know I did back when I was selling acid and they were selling xtc and quite a few had Dragon tats on their back but they were not violent. Plus I don't think she has plans to visit Japan anytime soon.

Welp, whatever will get me into the bath houses!

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-12-2013 16:19:

Right, if you notice they get tattoos in places you wouldn't be able to see when they're wearing a shirt.

I really love that style, but I don't think I'd ever get a traditional Japanese tattoo myself, just because I'm not Japanese and have no interest in Japanese culture/history/mythology.

I like tat number 20 but I really fell in love with tat number 22!

Not everyone, and the huge difference between that and tribal or whatever is that those actually take a good deal of skill to do well. They're not stencil tattoos taken out of a flash book.

Makes sense, though- the rolls will undulate - as rolls are wont to do - and the Phoenix will disappear, only to be reborn again, endlessly.

Dragons tend to be more Triad than Yakuza.

You realize that public bath houses in Japan are not a sexual thing right?

I know that much. The art is great and I won't take away from that.

How long you lived in Medicine Hat? Is it still a small city? I know someone from there and was wondering if you knew them?
