Catching up on Hannibal on Netflix and WOW, this show is good! The sound design alone is so well done, it's hard to believe this show is on regular ass TV with all the other tripe. Each episode just takes it so far to the next level, and it's dark as fuck. Love it.

Omfg yes. If you have Netflix the first 2 seasons are on it. Good god, believe me you HAVE to watch it. It's actually filmed in and around Toronto!
Probably my favorite show on TV for the last two years now. One of the only shows that can constantly shock (and even revolt) me. Fucking love it.
It's only on Canadian Netflix, though; in America it's on AmazonPrime (unless they've changed this in the last few months).

Just finished season 2. God. Damn.
The first episode isn't too bad. Honestly, the first season only has two "fucked up" episodes. Season 2 is much worse. So many "wtf" moments. Especially in the last two episodes!
It's both more gruesome and much better than any of the films. Definitely the best Lecter out there.
There is just so much depth to it, from it's exploration of the nature of evil, to playing it off like a love story of sorts (like in both Silence of the Lambs and the film + book version of Hannibal). I am a huge fan of the books and films, and I think they've done a superb job of including themes, characters, and plot points from the existing series. I loved the scene in season 2 when Freddie went to visit Will at the hospital - totally echoed the first time Starling visited Lecter in SotL. So good!!
And yes, the gore is amazing haha. I have had to watch many scenes through my partially covered eyes, lol.

Exactly. Then you get a perfect idea of how horrific this show is. I could barely watch the scenes with macro shots of needles/injections and I said just that - how I do the exact same stuff in real life, yet watching it in this show makes my skin crawl. Muhahahaha.
True detective is also on HBO. Part of my point is that Hannibal airs on a regular cable network.
Hannibal = best show on TV IMO. I got a few people into it at work. Very glad it got renewed for season 3. True detective was good but I don't think it was that spectacular like many reviewers said
If you can only see gore in it idk, it's a lot deeper than you have realized. You don't see much killing just the crime scene for the most part.
Hannibal doesn't air on cable, it airs on simple network TV. It really shouldn't, but oh well. I'm not going to complain too much 
And yeah, it's about much, much more than gore and blood.
It and True Detective are both great, but they are about very, very different things.
He is perfect in the role, imo. Hugh Dancy has really impressed me as well. And good lord can we talk about how smoking hot Gillian Andersen still is? Women who age gracefully > plastic Hollywood drones.

Yup, she plays Hannibal's therapist. So good. So perfect.
She's not in every episode !
Season 2 was brilliant. Season 3 can't come any slower. It's going to be very different. Gah I might go drive to the set for hannibal's house. My friend said they did the floors for them 
If you guys haven't seen The Fall yet (stars Gillian Anderson), watch it. Sooo good.
