Nothing like a 5 year old pointing at an middle aged, fat lady in a shopping line and asking not so quietly if she's pregnant. Lucky for childhood charm, I was completely lost on ways of getting out of that one with any degree of grace...

One of our cats is sick! She didn't eat anything yesterday and her activity level is way down...just lethargic and uninterested in anything.

Took her to the vet and she had a temp of 104. !!! That's high for a human, let alone a 7 pound cat. Poor girl.

Did a bunch of blood tests and everything came back normal, thank fuck. Gave her some subcutaneous fluid replacement and an anti inflammatory injection, and got a script to take home.

385 dollars. And I'm not shocked at the cost, just puts into perspective (not that I needed it) how awesome it is that our taxes fund our health care system and we don't really have to think about such things. I can't imagine how much dough it would be for the same kind of human visit to a family doc. Damn.

Related: does anyone know anything about pet insurance? Typical costs + coverage?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jul-20-2013 19:18:

About 3 months after I bought my dog, she swallowed an acorn whole requiring a surgical procedure to open her up, remove the acorn, and then all of the aftercare, meds, etc. $4,500 which I had to pay out of pocket.

After that I got pet insurance through Progressive (I don't know what's available in Canada) and it's $37 a month. That's for a 3 year old dog though, I don't know about an old cat. It also depends on any previous conditions, but my plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer 100%, has $5,000 in annual coverage, $100,000 in lifetime coverage, and only has a $100 deductible.

Yeah love it, great show.

Anyways, our girlfriends, Tynne and Peggy, invited my boyfriend and I to have lunch at Neiman Marcus' 'Mermaid Bar' today. We all had the tomato bisque as an appetizer, yum!

I love their Tomato Bisque Soup!

That was probably the gayest post ever on TA. And that's saying a lot.

Wait, wtf, Langragian, you're a chick?

Nope. Huge fag.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jul-20-2013 19:54:

Btw, isn't it redundant to say "bisque soup"? Fuck you, Lagrangian.

Posted by Lagrangian on Jul-20-2013 19:56:

Don't hate.

It is redundant.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jul-20-2013 19:57:

The recipe is well-documented:

•2 tablespoons olive oil
•3/4 cup onion, diced small
•1/2 cup carrot, diced small
•1/2 cup celery, diced small
•1 tablespoons minced garlic
•3 tablespoons tomato paste
•2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes, crushed by hand and juice reserved
•1 quart chicken stock
•1 tablespoon marjoram
•2 1/2 teaspoons salt
•1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
•1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
•1 cup heavy cream **************** important
•2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves

Posted by srussell0018 on Jul-20-2013 19:58:

What does the recipe have anything to do with it? Did you stop at the ATM machine before you went too?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jul-20-2013 20:01:

Any kind of soup preceded by the word "tomato" is just absolutely disgusting.

To change subjects a bit: we have a friend, let's call her Maria. She's moved to Minorca from Brooklyn, where she's lived for 10 years; she's originally from Ohio.

She's always criticizing people from Minorca for being different than people from New York. She's used the phrase, "In NY..." Many times.

I find that to be very condescending and pathetic, because a) she's from Timbuktu b) NY is a police-state shit hole c) Better educated NY'ers do not act like that when they 'consciously' move elsewhere.

Besides, she's lived in Brooklyn FFS!

Not sure about b) or c)

It's a cross between the two! fucking
