-- I got 50 Euro by mistake.

Posted by TonY on Apr-08-2003 08:42:

Question I got 50 Euro by mistake.

Today when I was buying bus ticket I got 50 Euro back by mistake. Now I don't know what to do. Should I return the money or should I keep the money.

If I keep it I will use it on records and I will go to the Trance Natione vol.2 Party.

Or if I return the money I'll get good conscience.

Help me out people.

(Sorry for mistake. It should be 50 Euro not 40 Euro in poll.)

Where/Whom would you return the money to?

It depends on where you found it. However, if I were you, I'd look for the owner, but, if it's impossible (i.e. you found it walking down the street and there's no way you can look for the person who lost it), then it's yours.

It all depends on how the system works where you live too. Would the police accept the 40 Euros till someone claim for it?

I know where to return money.

I paid cash for a bus ticket. Ticket cost 40 Euro and I gave 50 Euro.
I should get 10 Euro back, but owner gave me 50 Euro back.
She though that she was giving me 10 Euro back and didn't notice that
she gave me 50 Euro.

nah dont bother

if it was from some elderly woman then yea, or just any old person

but its a bus company, they wont even notice that, and the woman isn't gunna loose out cos of it

This is the kind of thing you'd better have done while you were in the bus (or wherever you bought it). Keep in mind that employees are responsible for the money they deal with. If there's less money than it should in the registrator, the employee will pay for it (at least that's how it works in Brazil). So, it's never too late if you can find her. Unless you can't track her easily: in this case, I don't know how you could return it to her, so just keep it

It's like when I bought a meal from McDonalds and the girl simply forgot to charge it. I was so distracted that I didn't realise I had not payed for it. I only noticed it while I was in class and I couldn't go back there. And I never saw her working there anymore, so I've never had the chance to give it back

LMAO! Haha... HELLO! We're in Europe!!! Maybe in Brazil things are different, but there ain't no way the employee is gonna pay for it... The worst thing that could happen is that this was like the tenth time she gave away 50,= and gets fired... But hey, if you can't handle money you shouldn't work with it... Nah, she ain't gonna pay for it... Everybody makes mistakes...

^^ I don't mean she is literally "paying" the price of the her mistake. "Paying the price" is an expression bro :P means like she will feel consequences for the missing money.

I know that... She won't feel anything...

Her boss is gonna say: "Hey, you're 50,= short. How did that happen?"
Then she's gonna say: "I don't know, sorry... Must have made a mistake."

And that's pretty much it...

nice to know that the ratio to moral:nonmoral people is 1:5
hehe jk.

well i picked no myself actually. if you already left the place and came home with the 50, just spend it productively somewhere, somehow in the future. it would have been ideal if you had figure out that you had received "xtra" change right on the spot, i which case you should have returned it immediately.

Already did that.
I got
Midway - Monkey Forest (Greg Murray Remix nad Vincent & Quentin 2003 Remix)
Oceanlab - Beautiful Together(Original Mix / Jaimy & Kenny D. Mix / Signum Mix / Silvester's Sunrise Mix)
2 Players - Signet (Leama & Moor Mix / Plastic Angel Mix)

And tomorrow I'll buy ticket to Trance Nation vol.2 party.

Thank you everyone for your opinion and votes. It was difficult decision, but I decide to keep the money and spend it on records and party. I hope that person who sold me ticket won't get fired because of this.
