Which trance artist would you like to be?
i'd just like to pose the question:
if you had the choice of being any trance artist, in any era, any sub-genre of trance, who would it be?
now im talking predominantly artists/composers not full fledged djs (yes, i would of chose Steve Strangis too).
which artist out there has a body of work or list of accomplishments that you wouldn't mind hanging your hat on?
Mine would be:
the Above and Beyond/Oceanlab outfit and the boys from S.H.O.K.K.
both for similar reasons. when i hear any songs from these guys it stirs up such emotion, that im often left pondering how i would exist without trance.
so for an artist to have such an effect on people would be my determining factor in choosing these particular artists.
i know there's gonna be some obvious replies, but if you sincerely believe they deserve your vote, then so be it.
Junkie XL, Just because of Infusion - Legacy Remix and Breezer
OH!
AND
Future in Computer Hell Part 2 *droolz*

Sasha
Hybrid
Nookie
Flutlicht
Way Out West
DJ Shadow
Tiesto of course.
Great producer and remixer. Even though he has coped a bit of slack over the years, he has always been near the top of his game.
How can you go past his work: Kamaya painters, allure, alibi, major league, stray dogs etc. All pure quality trance productions.
you could assume it would be steve helstrip for me
and youd be right
producer, remixer extraordinare
Chicane
Solar Stone
James Holden
Digweed ( back in the day)
no one because id like to try and make something of my own talent, or lack of.
steve helstrip
armin van buuren (his looks alone will get girls begging to date him)
johan gielen
Michael Woods - obviously for his quality releases but for his background and knowledge in muzik and working in Matt Darey's studio for 6 months.
Flutlicht
SASHA!
(or the female version of him anyway
)
his productions are brilliant! Xpander, Belfunk, the Airdrawndagger album...
and I know that this question was originally in regards to producers, but I can't leave out the djing aspect of Sasha's career. His Global Underground compilations in particular are sublime. I find GU009 and GU013 just as engaging and emotive as the first time I heard them. I certainly wouldn't mind being able to take credit for all that!
And then there's the lifestyle factor. For some strange reason the idea of waking up in a ditch in Ibiza, with a couple of tapes of my set and not much else is quite attractive to me...

peewee ferris

top thread!
in terms of accomplishments and skill, i'd have to go tiesto as a producer. u can't go pass all his successful collaborations, and his compilation album, damn the guy has really shown the versatility of his sound. adding on top of that his success as dj [tho not specified] with his magik n isos series, in terms of tracklist programming. there's the package right there.
however, disregarding accomplishments, i'm really diggin the sounds of neo n farina which i'd luv to produce. class remixes of callin ur name, rococco, and their tune mondial [awesome breakbeat breakdown!], which i dun think gets as much respect as it deserves. not to mention their new tunes someone n binary refined [remake of binary finary?]
on the other side of the spectrum, james holden. pure ingenuity, which gives u an out of body experience in all his tunes. guy's definitely gotta be "in space" while he produces!
Paul Oakenfold...then I wouldnt have to try to mix and the crowd would still love it.
DIRK DIERICKX
just because of the amazing work he does under different aliases
eg. push, m.i.k.e, plastic boy, heaven's gate, solarfactor, Yves DeRyuter (w. Yves DeRyuter)
plus numerous others.... production wise he is one talented man... wouldnt mind having some of those great tracks against my name
Benno De Goeij! He's an absolute genius, comprising the likes of: Rank 1 (w/ Piet Bervoets), Control Freaks (w/ Tijs), Kamaya Painters (w/ Tijs), SPX, The Quest, Dutch Force... to name a few.
I also find the Above & Beyond / Oceanlab crew to have similar production qualities, absolutely love their work.
But of course, Ferry is #1... not that I could ever "be" him. I don't think I could fill his shoes
Bexta...
I just need one day to explore myself....
No but really?
Ferry Corsten, very nice guy, and well respected by many
Armin or PVD
