all the people looking forward to a man with a dick chest wouldnt be so happy up until this point..

interesting debate i was having with a friend the other day.. what kind of turntables do you guys most prefer? personally ive only really ever used the technics 1200's.. so i cant really say the pros and cons about many others.. but i do know that the vestax ones were a bunch of junk..

i've used:

-citronic PT2
-gemini SA600 (the one I have now)
-technis SL1200 (my mate has them)

overall the technis is the best, but i'm happy with my gemini at the moment because it cost me $1000 less than technis anyway

American DJ Direct Drive TT (I have these)
Technics 1200's (Mates Place)

The technics are better, but my American DJs are about $1000 cheaper that the Technics for 2, but they've never had a problem, and they are fine, not as much torque, but i mean they are perfect otherwise. Perfectly usable. Especially for poor students like me who dont have a spare $1600 floating around for 1200's

Plus now I wont buy 1200's
Numark have released the TTx1
These own all Turntables. Like 3 times the torque of 1200's

As for the turntable debacle. I've used use Technics, Statons n Gemini...Technics just take the cake. As a amatuer - mucked around with turntables for a max 10 hours...the technics kickass Those TTx's might have the torque, but is that consistant torque or just start-up torque? There's a major difference. Plus nothin will beat the Technics, they're solid..and a lil plastic piece of poo from Numark wont topple em

i dont know anything about these new gadgets you're talking about because im a typical taurian who doesnt like change and enjoys walking on the beach and all that kind of bullshit.. but i remember there were these plastic gay things around a few years ago and they bit the dust, the actual record was raised like 3x the plate of the technics and it just looked retarded... anyone rememebr these?

laf. dave, change ur avatar dude. seriously! it hurts my eyes!

as for those jap gadgets, i dunno. do u really need such extras with a turntable? simplicity is best, nice torque and an accurate pitch control is all u need i think. i own techs 1200 n have used some stanton str80s which r supposed to be modelled on the techs and while they're not too bad, they're pretty sensitive, so techs r still preferred. wouldnt mind a go at other tables tho.

and yea, trading post pointy. its the way to go!
