Can't wait till Toronto gets our own cafe too.

A few months ago I passed by City Hall without realizing there was a rally that day to legalize cannibus. It was a weird scene with hundreds of people smoking everywhere you went. It was so funny to see people walking around Eaton Centre with plants around their necks. I was like, "damn, this is great!"

Posted by BTG on Apr-11-2003 01:11:

woweee! that makes me happy.

Posted by MightyDubKat on Apr-11-2003 06:21:

man I coulnd't imagine one of those opening up in the United States anytime soon. You got any more information on the cafe. Like the layout or the address? hehehe. I might have to make canada apart of my summer vacation plans !!

Posted by Magimaster on Apr-11-2003 06:27:

Actually that's the first in that province, not Canada.

Vancouver has one, or some. I've never been, but I remember my ex-boss saying something about that.

Any other Vancouverites care to prove-disprove this?

yeah i remember hearing about this as well. But i heard there was a crackdown on it a few years back. Since then however the gov has become much much much more lax on the issue. its gonna happen soon

LEGALIZE

That will be great.....

Hope it happens for you guys!

As long as John Ashcroft types are in charge of the US that will never happen......

Posted by Mike_B on Apr-11-2003 16:23:

cool, but ive already out grown smoking pot.

Posted by Mike_B on Apr-11-2003 21:51:

out gorwn is a relative to the reason why you used to smoke it. If you have a joint like having and occasional beer, then its not something to outgrow. if you just did it to get ripped because the age in the US for booze is 21, then yes i can see how you would outgrow it. Some ppl do it because they enjoy the relaxed feeling. Has nothing to do with age.

Hmmm...not sure I understand this statement totally...

Pot is not a gateway drug as suggested here.

What exactly do you mean?

Posted by Tony Morello on Apr-12-2003 19:12:

yea simple possesion is nothing to worry about anymore
mainly cause there is no actual law governing simple possesion in canada
nothing, nada

it covers stuff like intent to distribute and trafficing, but no simple possesion

so if you get caught smoking a joint and have nothing else on you, you're basically scott free

i think you might get a ticket or something, but just go to court and it's tossed out

Vancouver has had a pot smoking cafe for a while.
There is one downtown vancouver called Blunt bros. This shop is off the hook, my friends took me there for my birthday, and we got super stoned and had a good time. The atmosphere is so chill, because everyone is high, and having a good time. We were meeting new people by the hour, and lighting up with a whole different bunch of diverse people is amazing. When i was stoned i couldnt get over the fact that there was people ranging from computer nerds, to business men, to hippies, to teens, to moms. Cafes are great. =D

Posted by Mike_B on Apr-13-2003 00:03:

sweet, that's sounds like such a blast. we gotta get one here in ottawa. then again in some clubs in mtl, i smoke in there all the time and no one ever says a thing. Bouncer caught me once and just told me not to make it so obvious, i should smoke on the dance floor, and off i went. Ottawa blows cause its non smoking every where. Like not just marijuana, but like no cigarette or anything. So sparking up a joint in a smoke free area kinda makes it obvious who's doing it

Posted by The Highroller on Apr-13-2003 00:16:

they should have one in toronto! alotta potheads here.. we deserve one
