I've just had it with all the "stop the war" protesters!
When is it going to end? :/
Here's some quotes from ppl protesting today:
| quote: |
"I think the war is not ending -- it's only just started," said Sue Wyndham, a 54-year-old protester in London. "They're going to go into Syria or Korea next, anywhere they feel they can use their power." |

| quote: |
"This is the beginning of a whole new war by the United States, which is also trying to control Cuba, Syria, and other Latin American countries," said Marco Del Bufalo, 37, a high-school teacher. |

| quote: |
"Occupation is not liberation," said Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, a civil rights lawyer and an organizer of the Washington rally. "Whether they can conquer it militarily is one thing; whether they can turn it into an obedient client state is another." |

| quote: |
"We must not forget that this war remains an illegitimate war without the authorization of the United Nations," said Mouloud Aounit, the head of anti-racism group MRAP. |
| quote: |
"American and British soldiers may have occupied Iraq, but they have failed to win the hearts of the Iraqi people," Mohammad Selim, 10, said at the protest sponsored by Islamic and leftist parties and anti-war citizens' groups. |
| quote: |
"That Saddam Hussein was removed was good, but not the way it was done," said Kurt Junesjoe, a 63-year-old protester in Stockholm. |
| quote: |
Supporters of the war also rallied in Washington Saturday. "I hope the troops can see us across the seas," said Bonnie Hayslip, 48, a housewife from Pennsylvania. |

Freedom includes the right to hold contradictory beliefs, as the vast majority of these protesters do.
Group protesting is, IMO, the lowest form of argumentation. It upholds all the most fallacious instincts of reason: ad populum, glittering generality, argument by slogan, etc. It is a manifestation of mob mentality.
I don't have a problem with it, but I would not expect to find rational arguments being presented in such a format.
Excellent post Vesa. I actually read all of the links, and found them very interesting, especially this one.

as for this:

The Anti-War demonstrations are necessary as long as PNAC is in power. |

Robstar, with the US claiming now that many scientists fled to Siria as well Saddam as a presumption, I don't second guess that the US would dare to invade Siria as well.

| Originally posted by D'Paul Do you really want to be quoting the Art of War, when the US is supposedly playing peace maker? As an adamant protester, I disagree with how this war is being handled as well, but not its intentions. Saddam is a bad man, a very bad man. This is not being contested. He kills children, women, and just about everything else that can move. However, so does (in)Fidel Castro and Kim Jong II and why aren't we going after them? This war sends the message that the US is willing to go to war over revenge (the assasination attempt on Bush Sr.) and oil (to make the Republicans in office richer). Our regime's reasons for war is that Saddam kills people, but war kills people too. This logic means that we kill the Iraqi children, women, etc. before Saddam gets a chance to, but its in the name of peace. Do you see the contradictions? Why can't we diffuse this weapons situation like we did in North Korea a couple months ago? Anyway, I can't wait till our puppet government is put in place in Iraq so my gas bill is a dollar less than before. |
