oh man who cares , just drop some really hard tunes...sure itll piss people off , but im sure theres one person in the crowd who'll push his date aside and bust out some glowsticks

I frankly don't think the prom is the most appropriate place to drop full on trance. Just some house/bit nicer than cheese.

LOL

in all seriousness, it would be safe to stick to mostly housy beats. I would stay away from the uber trancy stuff. Chill trax every once in a while, and also might wanna toss in some remixes of some "commercial" (read: played on the radio fairly often) songs, just to appease the crowd.

This is a must. But start off with a really typically promish tune just to fool your crowd before dropping that super hard tune.

Robert Miles - Red Zone Part 3

If you can get your hands on it.

Dude, I don't know what kind of high school you go to or what kind of prom this is but you need to play popular stuff. What do most people listen to at your school? Hip-hop always works. Pop is what it is, popular. At my high school people would have been pissed if they played trance or house. Don't ruin their prom for them. Don't worry about artistic integrity. It's a prom.

If you need some help pm me. I DJ at a club for people who don't know trance from their own ass. I play mostly rap and remixes of pop songs. I save the electronic til the end of the night when everyone's drunk and will party regardless.

Leave that for the last song.. for the GF/BF slow dance... nice bass on that mofo tune as well...

But play chart stuff.. heck play dance.. its a dance, its a celebration.. make the mofo's DANCE the night away... chilliout.. man u wanna bore their ass???

"remmber @ the prom.. yeah i remmber wasn't too bad.. but the music sucked ass.. so slow.. i nearly fell asleep..."

Is that what you want to be said on your reunion?

LOL no i don't think so...

Posted by twizta on Apr-14-2003 10:26:

wethinks..that

well..
we were planning making the fukers bounce at the beginning

with the hardest part of the night [not exactly hardstyle, but 'the apex of the night' {in terms of BPM}]

then a bunch of romantic chill-out..

that would be the build-up..for the eh

'romantic' section of the evening [all that pop crap, and horsecrap]

well the thing is, if we are talking about a similar prom situation- is that high schoolers still think the DJ is just a human jukebox. they will be telling you what to play and if you dont have it/like it, youre fucked.

im sure you could slip in one or two choices of your own, but you can bust out trance unless you are some superhero. stick to shit, and if you please them for awhile they will let you get away with more|

Pffffff, bottom line - just stick to radio garbage.

as much as i hate to help promote mainstream music, i dont really think its appropriate to play trance @ prom. i cant imagine what it would be like. its not like the females can dance w/ their high heels anyways, even if they wanted to... go w/ pop, rock & hiphop. you cant go wrong playing what the mass wants. just remember its not your prom but theirs!

i dont know why but i only remember like one song that was played @ my prom and its one of the most random songs ever though the song makes me reminisce lol.. but my point is that you should play radio friendly songs that ppl are familiar w/ b/c chances are, they hear it and associate it w/ some HS memory or what not.

if u do play trance at all, remember to only play vocal stuff lol

With any gig, know your crowd. And play to their tastes. You're gettin' played to supply tunes and keep them happily entertained. This is not the time to attempt trance 'education'. Stick with whats popular, the 'classic' party tunes that always get a good response etc. Play whats big on the radio and be prepared to take requests. The quicker you fill these requests, the happier the crowd will be. The happier the crowd is, the better the vibe, the better the party. and it is their party.

Towards the end of the night, move into more housey territory, keep the beat steady, and funky. My advice, stick clear of trance. Its a 'commercial' gig. If their happy and have a good time, it will reflect well on you. The reverse is also true. A gig like this, well executed, can line up lots more work for you. Good luck.

i would play

Infusion - The legacy (Junkie XL remix)

i think the lyrics will pretty much sum up most of their future life.

SOme non trance songs:

(blanking out who this is by right now) - We dont need no Education

personally i would just get a listing of songs from the student counsel. they will know what they want to hear at prom

just play GIANT JNR - What Would You Do With A Million... everyone will remember you!
