-- Greece is dressed in black today...

Unhappy Greece is dressed in black today...

For those who dont know it, yesterday evening a truck driver lost control of his truck and his carriage, (novopan (manufactured wood which is very smooth and is cut in thin slides)) crashed on 3 cars and it acted like a razor slaughtering 15 students of Makrochori Highschool, who were returning from a school trip in athens.
This happened at tempi valley, where the driver lost control, the carriage cut the righ tside of the bus. The number of the dead is 21 and the injuried is 29.
Also 2 of the 3 cars which, crashed with the truck, caught fire...

This is the front page of the local newspaper which says
Why, My God!

Anyone who could runned at Larissa's Hospital (this is where the dead bodies of the unlucky students) to give blood and to work as volunteers.

It's one of the most tragic events which reminds us something of Krete(1972) where 14 students drowned and the recent accidents in Aliakmon river and the bus of the fans of PAOK (a soccer team) in the same area where 10 people died.

We wish to the students to go on a better world and also hope that the safety in the roads of Greece will increase

(sorry for my bad english )

Posted by icedale on Apr-14-2003 19:40:

quite tragic.
Some tv-channel is playing "City Of Angels"(Meg Ryan, can't remebmer the other guy)instead or some reality shows that were to be played right now, in honor of the tragedy.

sorry to hear

my thoughts go out to them and their families

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Apr-14-2003 20:37:

damn thats horrible...thoughts r with the families

Posted by Fandom on Apr-14-2003 20:56:

Yeah..people here talk about it all the time. It's so tragic, all those children.the leaders of the E.U. have sent their sympathies to the families of the children(theyre coming to Greece for the eu meeting tomorrow or the day after).
The most unfortunate/tragic fact is that the class the children were on was the only one on the place they lived, the accident left an irreplacable gap as those children were the youth of the place.not that it wouldnt be as horrible if the place was fully populated but u get the meaning.
It's so unjust.they were only 15 year old kids..yearning for life.
Lets hope they rest in peace.sympathies to the families
