Makin' a rasping synth

Im trying to make that fast, hardtrance/hardhouse rasping synth sound. sort of like SHOKK and BK. but my leads cant seem to get that last bit of 'grrr'..... if u know what i mean. Im using fruity. Any advice?

Are you applyin LFOs to the sound, give it some more hi-end sounds by loosening the LP filter (if you are using one).

Maybe you are using the wrong wave forms. Maybe the synth you are using isn't capable of making this sound.

ive thought about upping the higher frequencies but it just looses all impact. i suppose the thing i need is a bit of distortion.... hmmm

Im using a vst synth called Scorpion atm. ive got some nice glide on there which helps but it still needs that extra oomph!

Hello!

Buy a Waldorf or a Virus.

You need to add some Noize.... the shhhs you know tha sticky nois. The Albino and Pro 53 are good synths for what you are trying to do.

Noise just gives it a hissy tone to it. I don't think this is going to give it oomph. It can make the sound harsher though.

Have you got the amp attack filter on zero. Maybe unison mode/play chords

I use the pro-52 and I take 2 saw waves and detune them and I open the cut off so that the sound is really big and add a lil resonance for that high air sound that. Then I use the anaolg feature(sounds like flanger to me). Then I use the unison until it sounds right.

You may want to use the fruity filter plug-in. Play with the band pass and high pass filters. I will open the synth's cut-off filter up completely and adjust it with the fruity filter.

One other suggestion. I use Vaz and I will get 2 saws and detune them and filter it using vaz. Then got to the overdrive and crank it up. It really makes the a reallly raw and hard sound.

Give z3ta+ a try. That synth can make an amazingly wide variety of sounds.

I jsut got this and it really kickz ass...I' not comparing it ito vaz, but its one of the synths with tons of potential if you can program it.

its easy to learn how to program it. Easier than vaz or fm7 anyway
