plummet - damaged

Finally, i've been waiting for a really kickass vocal trance song all year and it's here. Plummet - Damaged is without a doubt the best song released so far this year. I especially like the Arctica Remix. Check out other Arctica remixes, like their remix of Antillas feat clannad - I will find you, really fresh and cool sound.

Shame / Disagreement

Are you Judge Jules in disguise?

Posted by tsunami on Apr-17-2003 12:56:

hehe

actually never heard any of judge jules's mixes, so im not sure what you're pointing at

Posted by Aled Mann on Apr-17-2003 13:05:

Thumbs up

Hehe! He loves this tune! Personally it's not for me. Sounds too 'charty' if you know what I mean?

Still, each to their own I say!

Posted by attacc on Apr-17-2003 13:06:

I really like the tune, especially the Antillas remix but it's not numero 1 for me Kick ass vocals yeah1!

Blufield: yeah i know what you mean, and i can see that people think that, but i really got a softspot for good vocals
i loved Dj sammy - Heaven & Boys of summer, and it doesn't get much more "charty" than that

but the lyrics aren't all that bad if you think about it

Theres another thread on here somewhere about Scatman John - you might want to look that up, I think you'd love his work.

Posted by tsunami on Apr-17-2003 14:44:

pure genious, how did you manage to link plummet and dj sammy to scatman john.

Posted by d-jay MyTH on Apr-18-2003 13:31:

actually even those who turn their noses up to 'charty music' might like the alucards rmx. it's more progressivey. top notch rmx

Posted by tsunami on Apr-18-2003 13:34:

okey, im not a fan of charty music, but i just though heaven wasn't all that bad, thats all.

Posted by webmeister on Apr-18-2003 13:40:

I quite like this tune as well .. it's getting airplay on one of the pop radio stations here in Sydney which is a bit

but meh .. solid tune

Posted by FoneBone on Apr-18-2003 15:20:

i don't like the tune at all....

Posted by Cosmic on Apr-18-2003 15:42:

It's a good song, after listening to it a few times

Posted by CortexBomb on Apr-18-2003 16:46:

Damaged is one of those tunes that I like, but with extreme guilt

The vocals undoubtedly make the song, but this is so borderline for me that I feel a bit silly liking it.

Doesn't surprise me in the least that Jules is hammering this though...right up his alley...

(still would love to find his dub of Stay With Me by Angelic from an old Qontact set though, only version of that song that I ever could dig on...and quite funny that he'd be spinning a dub of a song that his wife was the vocalist on, why do I get the feeling that he didn't get any that evening? )

awesome tune!!
and I feel no guilt at all for feeling that.

The Neo & Farina Remix is definitely the best in my opinion!
mmMMMmm

hah

Holyshit-- yet another jules bashing thread on TA. These come about like every 2-3 days on this forum. Plummett-Damaged is a great song, I think people confuse songs that have lyrics in them with songs that are too "charty". I've heard Delerium-Silence(tiesto mix) on the radio over here in Ohio... ON A RAP radio station and that song is always viewed as a classic. Lemme tell you.. it doesn't get anymore charty then the radio stations in OHIO. However that song is never viewed that way. Why? i'll give you a hint: Its starts with a T and ends with an iesto. Everything he does (along w/ AVB,PVD, etc) makes you guys blow your load. Like Dave Dresden said on these forums, just because a song is big, doesn't mean the artist has "sold out".

why do all tranceaddict in trainings like cheese?

ewwwww HEAVEN

Posted by daydreamer on Apr-19-2003 03:57:

the song is about a girl that was raped or molested.
"Feeling comes so painfully."

still like the song. original does it for me.

Posted by Chris 00 Ave It on Apr-19-2003 12:16:

It's definitely a grower for me

I wasn't too keen when I first heard it, but after hearing it out I like it in a cheesy way - gotta be the antillas mix though!

polummet - damaged sounds a bit charty - but i have to say that the neo & farina remix is all ok! Tisto's silence is'nt a charty tune - not for me...cause it is a true masterpiece - u can't compare with plummet at all. i think it's woderful that a trancetune that sounds like a trnace tune should gets airtime at even a hip-hop station in Ohio - that's just how good it is.

In defence of myself and everyone else who thinks Damaged is borderline, I never said, or thought that the song sounded too 'charty'.

Frankly, I couldn't give less of a shite what's playing on the radio stations because the only thing I listen to on the radio with any regularity is ASoT. I've never been one to bash a song because it's getting airplay, if you don't believe me do a search and note my defense of oft bashed chart toppers like Southern Sun and Rapture.

The fact of the matter is that some people will like the sound that Damaged has, some people will hate it, and some people will be in that middle ground, kind of liking it, but wishing it was a little less over the top for lack of a better term.

You've been pretty selective in the threads you read if you think everything Tiesto does is hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread here, he's been taking his share of flack for the better part of a year for his track selection and production values.

I also think you're trying to lump people into a category here, and it's just not accurate. For example, I like a lot of the stuff PvD has done, and think he's fantastic live, but I'm completely unimpressed with his new track 'Nothing But You'...I've never been afraid to say when I think a new song by any artist, even one that I really like, isn't that great. There are always 'fanboys' in any forum that will promote their favourite artist until the day they drop regardless of the quality, but there are plenty of people on TA that are much more objective, and aren't afraid to call tunes as they see em, regardless of whose name is stamped on the vinyl.

And finally, I agree completely with the 'sell out' phrase being a load. All I care about is whether the music is good or not, let the masses love it or loathe it, all I care about it whether it does something for me or not. I never said, or thought that I implied that Damaged was a "sell out" tune, I just think that it's a little on the edge for my tastes, the kind of thing that I like, but begrudgingly at this point, and that's just how I feel about it. From the sounds of some of the other posters here I'm not the only one.
