Just wanted to let you know about this site:

This is actually an AT&T demo, but you can record free vocal samples, just type the text that you want, choose one of the voices (I think 3 male and 3 female), choose either English, French, Spanish, or German, and you'll get the MP3.

Now, the trick is to move this MP3 out of your browser's "temporary files" storage into the directory you want, because you can't right-click and save as. But no problem: this file is stored on your disk, just find where it is and move it to your permanent location.

The good thing is: Even unknown words are pronounced according to the rules of the language you selected, and sentences have the correct tone.

Then, play with it in your wave editor, apply some effects... whatever you need! the vocal is there!

Wow!

Those voice synths are getting better and better. In particular, using the suggested sentance above, "Audrey UK" and "Rich - US" are both pretty damn good.

it works well with short phrases.. but long phrases tend to sound a bit wierd...
