headphone fun
i just took apart my old and broken sony mdr-v600 headphones and turned it into a single cup headphone.
it's great and i can finally start using them again 'cause i like them better than my 700s.
anybody else fucked around with there headphones or customized them or whatever?
I never understood why'd you want a single-cup headphone...
The second cup never hurts, you just put it to the side if you don't want to use it.
oh, i just read again and saw that it was broken, n/m. hehe
yeah. they've been broken before, gotten fixed and this time if i were to get them fixed, i prolly would of spent more on getting them fixed than actually buying them. even though it was over 3 years ago.
it was a bit more than just takin off one side. it was like massive surgery without re-wiring.
first, i had to take off the broken piece (the part that holds the cup to the rest, like the folding part) then take off the good part top move the one headphone to the other side that's not broken. i have a lot of screws sitting here. it's kinda neat. lol
i'm liking them a lot now. next time i play out i'm gonna bring 'em and see how i like them.
The Sony MDR-V600...
...is one of the very worst headphones that I've listened to recently, at such a high price. I wouldn't pay even $20 for that 'phone - honestly. But it's downright Not Acceptable at its $100 price tag at mass-market superstores. It sounds artificially echoey, with dull and lifeless bass, woolly and honky mids, and harsh and screechy highs. Worse, the MDR-V600 produces absolutely no musical detail at all whatsoever across the audible frequency spectrum.
i have no clue what yer talking about. mine don't sound like that at all... even after all the abuse i've put them through... ?
there isn't a ton of bass but the mids and highs are beautiful and they fit so well around your ear and keep out other noise.
All I was trying to say is that I've heard far better headphones than the MDR-V600's at their exact retail price point...
prolly. can't remember how much i paid for mine??
oh well. i love 'em. that's all that matters
Basically, there are a lot of good cheap headphones out there for DJ's... sony stuff is usually overpriced, unless you get the right model. If you are curius, it isn't too hard to find some dj/studio headphones that are probably better sounding than anything you have ever heard...
my technics rp-dj1200 headphones broke a while back... only the right channel works....
if i can't get them fixed, maybe i'll do something crazy with them too, =P
Well I painted my Sennheiser 280s yesterday, with spray paint (light blue) and they look really awesome. They are in a way similar to Picotto's.I can't stop looking at them
^^^ Nice!
If you don't mind, what kind of spraypaint did you use and how did you do it? Thanks! I've always wanted to paint my HD-280's or MDR-7506's.

I was told it was a Picotto fan who painted them and gave him as a present. He has a pair of them, one in fluorescent yellow (most popular) and the others are blue.
I bought my spray paint in a department store here in Lisbon, real cheap (6, or 6 bucks), protected the parts I didn't want to paint with newspaper and tape, and then fire away, lol.
The outcome was awesome, although I slighty fucked up in the padded (?) part, some ink got through (so the black part has some blue parts) but I don't care, they look great. Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera, otherwise I'd upload the pic, but if you browse the web you'll surely find picotto's phones (mines are exactly the same color, I think, I only saw his picture once). I painted the majority of the 280s, leaving in black the padded part in the ears and on the top of it. It was quite easy really, and took 1 day to dry out. As for types of paint I really don't know, I just bought the 1st I came across, it was cheap and did the job I guess
Happy painting, lol
Kay I found these pics

but,to be honest, I think mines look cooler, just because Mauro's have some black parts while mines are all blue; but they're quite similar
yeah they pretty cool. I wouldn't try anything with mine though knowing my handyman skills.
i dont think that marco's wearing hd280 pro's there.. pity.
they look great though,i might consider painting mine 2

Can it be chipped off (don't want you to try!), or do you think it might degrade eventually? Oh and I always thought that Picotto got his 'phones custom-painted by Sony...? Must've heard wrong. |
