My Suggestion For T.A. Radio

Swamper I know sometimes you dont reply to my post but I think this is a important one with an important matter, well you probably already read the thread about "Simcuts Time", http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...15&pagenumber=1 and I was thinking about it for a while. T.A. readio was/is a great improvement for this site, it's very impressive for a trance site like this one to have all these features that you have recently added. Although, whats the point of simcut or any-1 else doing broadcast if no 1 is going to listen? Most common reasons for people not tuning in is theses...

Reasons..

1. Bitrate is very low (one time I saw it go down to 22 kbs)
2. The connection usually breaks up for connections on DSL & Higher
3. Alot dont know when they are going to broadcast
4. Alot of people are at work when the broadcast are hapening
5. Alwayz the same people broadcasting (simcut, Temps, yeavat)

My suggestons

1. Have 2 Bitrates, 56k users 56kbs, and for DSL & Higher 128 Kbs
2. I dont know how to fix this problem, but I guess it depends on the broadcasters speed connection.
3. Make a little schedule, let people know may-b a couple of hours or a day in advance prior to the broadcast, if anything make a 3 time a week schedule all depending on the broadcasters schedule. (Remember not all people who visit this site use the forums, so they wouldnt know when/what time the broadcast will happen).
4. Different broadcast on different time slots, Ex. Uk, U.S. Eastern Time
5. Try mixing it up, there are alot of talanted Dj's On this site (the forums), try them out for a shoutcast.

Just some suggestions and I hope you might take these in concideration, please let me know what you think. If any-1 else has more suggestions please add also..

I don't got time to do any of that stuff right now.. when I do it'll happen...

As of right now, once someone is shoutcasting then within 45 seconds of that happening a link will show up under the menu on all the pages saying that TranceAddict Radio is up

That's all I can do for now.. there's no way I'm gonna set up a ton of peeps shoutcasting unless there's a whole system in place to handle that.. and I seriously don't have any time to do that now

Swamp thanks for replying. Very true, I understand that ya dont have time to do all that now.. Thats great (about the link in the forums), as far as the schedule and setting people up let some-1 else handle it that would be willing to do it. Let them ask around and see who/when people want to shoutcast and make a schedule of when they will do it and you post .. What did you think of the #1 on the list? Is there anything you might be able to do about that in the future?

There is nothing wrong with a 24kbps stream.. over 65% of the people who come on here have slow connections

In order to have a faster stream the person shoutcasting would have to have a stable connnection and be able to pump out 17 kB/sec upstream bandwidth since they'd need 2 winamps open connecting to 2 different shoutcast servers @ different bitrates.

a 40kbps stream for the 56k people would be better than the 24kbps... and about the upload bandwidth..... 17-20kb/sec isn't that hard to come by eh?.... most isp's are limited at 25kb/sec so it should be fine!
