hidden ID3 tags?

you know how sometimes you add a file to your winamp and the info that's shown in the playlist is either badly misspelt or is simply all ugly with alphanumeric characters and in lowercase (yes, i'm anal about filenames )

and no matter what you do with the ID3v1 tag, you can't fix anything, only enabling ID3v2 tag helps. so my question is - what is that hidden tag that contains the misspellt information and how can i get rid of it?

Buy the cd/vinyl, burn it to an mp3, and there you go, no misspelled ID.

Where do you get your mp3s?

they're your usual mp3s, the ones on the hub, the ones people send me... most of the time, these tags are associated with some ripping group, i can't exactly remember which exact groups do this, but there are a few

you're on the right track. maybe its a read-only mp3 file. using id3v2 actually copies a new mp3 file to your HD and deletes the old one, whereas id3v1 updates it into the current file.

check the file attribute and see if you can fix this.

ah i hate it when that happens. and having the semi anal personality i dont like having mispelled (mispelt?) files. if you have the time and patience just delete and dl another mp3

Just edit the tag
