Armin spinning techno

Armin was spinning trance at bal en blanc (rocked btw) and people weren't digging trance I guess... so ZinG tells him to play harder

Shit it was awesome some techno-trancy tunes, very hard at some point, very melodic at some other. He was having the fun of his life (not like some other lame trance dj who shall remain nameless )

anyways, maybe ZinG can give more details, i'm falling on my keyboard!!!!

Tiesto played very hard in December IMO...not sure if he has the tracks to play even harder than that

Posted by alec on Apr-21-2003 19:45:

You techno whores stay away from our Armin. He's Trance dammit! Don't do that to us! You're already pulling Tiesto away from Tiesto.

I agree. I love trance I want to hear trance when I see armin and tiesto. I loved PVD @ aria because he played trance.

Posted by MEAT on Apr-21-2003 19:50:

Alec...you are sounding very possesive about Armin leaving you....why is that?

somehow i doubt that Armin will be leaving the trance scene anytime soon

Posted by ACA2000 on Apr-21-2003 20:47:

i had media passes and i actually got a chance to talk to armin for a few minutes. he loved everything about bal en blanc. the crowd was rockin during his set, he got that crowd bouncing like they were his puppets towards the end of his set when he switched over to techno.

Posted by ZinG on Apr-21-2003 21:03:

Yeah well Bal En Blanc has never been a Trancy party until last year when PVD played. So expect the majority of people comming to see Barbara and Roger Sanchez, Armin is just a 3rd choice.
But he pulled it off pretty well, I am very glad he spun some techy tracks like his remix of Umek Vs. Speedy J - Gatex Vs Kreck and added couple of more harder ones, but I was surprised how the crowd went crazy when he dropped Marco V - Del *.mp3 seems Marco has an effect on montreal crowd still maybe he aught to play BeB next year
Anyway Armin was perfect, Barbara as usual
Roger was doing his thing again i think he stole the show, his funky house set got Armin and Barbara dancing even haha
Nice seeing ACA2000 there, Malek hope you managed to stay till the end, soon videos and pics of the event will be officially posted.
For those who missed it, u missed Armin getting hyped in front of ~12,000 people, he really liked it, Armin and Barbara got acquinted, who knows maybe Barbara switching to trance?
And Armin looking forward for JUNE 13! He will do his best to play the best set ever infront of no.1 DJ Tiesto.

I agree...listen to your "pound pound pound distortion pound distortion pound pound pound" all you want, but when leave the GREAT Trance masters like Armin and Ferry to us TRANCE LOVERS! Just because YOUR tastes have evolved into that techno crap, doesn't mean your once favourite Dj's should have to start playing it. God knows we're starting to lose Tiesto that way...he's playing techno, prog and even some breakbeats now. His sets are barely 50% trance, though his two new productions (Nyana and Skin) are pretty damn trancey.

But definitely, if I want trance in the pants (which I fucking LOVE! Death to all others who oppose me! ), Armin and Ferry never disappoint. I just missed Tiesto's trance glory years where it was anthem after anthem crazy banging trance every gig (98-2000) by a year or so. I was, for fuck's sake, too young to see him at Guv the in Summer 2000 and all my buddies were STILL 18 when he came in October 2001.

You FUNNY man! (it' true though). I could handle one or two techno or prog tunes, but any more than that and I'd be bored.

poor smitty he was too young back then well i say he's still young with such immature comments about other's tastes

i actually even got to talk to armin about coming to ottawa and he told me he has never really had any serious offers. he asked me why this was and i told him that ottawa is a city based around prog, house, and jungle. there aren't too many trance lovers in ottawa. he told me that he could play prog as well and i asked him if that's what he really likes to play. he just gave me this funny look and said "what do you think???"
hehe

it's unfortunate because there are a lot of people that enjoy trance in ottawa. i'd like to think that we could pull off bringing in a dj of armin van buuren's stature but even i, who thinks he's the greatest dj on the planet, think it would be risky to bring him into ottawa. although he would probably draw some people from TO and montreal as well.

anyways overall it was a fantastic night, i had a blast!!!

Zing it was great meeting you as well.

Posted by alec on Apr-22-2003 15:19:

He would need a bigger venue to play, because the promoters would need to make their money from him as he charges more than the average dj that comes to Ottawa.
