didgereedoo...
my girlfriend bought me a didgereedoo from aus its sooo mmuch fun ive being pissing her off with it soo much... when im too lazy to get up and turn my decks on i just sit in bed and muck around on it but i cant get the hang of circular breathing does anyone here know any tricks to learn it fast... im guessing someone here knows how to play a trumpet or sax or something.
anyone here play didge? or any weird instruments?
a what?
a whatawhoo?
it's a gigantic instrument that aborigines play
looks like some kind of big-ass long horn
if anyone has seen the video for Gouryella - Gouryella then thats what the little dude is playing
the bassline in the song was modeled after the sound it makes
ahh a didgeridoo...wicked sounding instrument... has a lot of bass in its sound...played by the aborigines of australia...here a little search on google might have helped... i found this site for you http://www.didgeridoo.it/ ps: might want to translate it using altavista...it's in italian
)
Yeah, those things are fun to play, tried it a few times, but didn't get anything sounding good out of it
you can learn circular-breathing by: breathing in through your nose and breathing out through your mouth with a straw into water... just try to keep it constant. dig's can sound really cool once you get the hang of them, not that i did though lol. good luck

Heh, Didgereedoo's are the greatest for annoying people in public... They think you're nuts walking around with this giant pipe-horn-thing sticking out of your mouth and a low rumble-like moose cry filling the air.
Anyone know if you can actually play different notes on one? I can only get mine to play one note... It gets old after awhile.
Yes you can play many different notes on one. You just have to adjust the amount of air you're putting through or the shape of your lips. Practice a bit and you'll get it.
OMFG !!! a didgeridoo is the best intrusment ever made by man! I love them.. Yanni a modern "new age' composer uses alot in his works. The bigger the better. But they are so $$$$ for good ones. Good ones can cost up to 1200. I WANT ONE!

listen to Aphex Twin - Digereedoo
amazing song
there's a remix to "system f- indian summer" with the didgereedoo, but i dont know what mix it is, i can't find it, it was on a danny t set.
sweet ill try that one with the straw and bottle should be fun! i was at a doof once and this dude started playing a didge in time with a dnb set it was fkn wicked so now ive decided to learn the didge so that i can play along with all my dnb dj mates =]
p.s. a didge is not those fuk off annoying horns that everyone takes to soccer matches nor is it onen of those huge horns thatt the dalai lama dudes play... its a wooden tube and you can make it make sounds like animals and stuff with a constant wavy bass sound!

here's a good site for info/instructions: http://aboriginalart.com.au/didgeri...background.html
circular breathing is said to take two months to learn .... so don't give up ( I did trying to learn how to play didg years back with a home made one with a long ass bamboo stick
)
