my god, my cell looks like a piece of prehistoric trash compared to these

u should try and check european/ asian nokia sites, since they usually have the never phones..

also, if u can read germany, i can recommend www.xonio.com as a good resource for phone information. www.howardchui.com is also nice, and in english.

I've got the 3650, and its a fantastic phone. Its really fun when u capture a video moment (as it has a video camera function too)

however, battery life is shite when u playback videos, and record and stuff. Also keeping the bluetooth reception up, will eat the battery alive. Also the keypad takes some getting used to as well, but apart from that, its great

the 3650 looks ugly as hell.

definitely the coolest nokia phone to get is the NOKIA 7250... You can buy it on ebay.

its true...although I'm not surprised. All the good companies are from asia and europe so it's only natural that the phones are better there.

I want the 7210

WOW RIGHT ON! thank you have the blue one is the one i was looking for .. i think it looks awesome. one question though.. who do you get service through if you get a "european" phone? can you buy the phone and have your SP hook it up for you?

Thanks MEGA LOTS! i really appreciate it!

Posted by cycloptor on Apr-25-2003 03:52:

t68i > all others. i really want the motorola v600 or sony-ericsson p800 though.

and as for advanced phones. europe has amazing tech, that is certian, but look at what japan has. holy crap their phones will someday take over the world

if u live in the US, which i assume, you'd need to get service through a GSM phone provider. At this point and to my knowledge only T-Mobile provides GSM phone serice in the US.

I bought my Nokia 7210 in NYC with a contract from T-mobile back in December. So if u find a nice store that sells european phones, u can buy it with a contract from them, get a nice rebate for signing up for service and use the phone in the US. Additionally my phone was unlocked, hence I am able to swap sim-cards as i please

Posted by fastmp3 on Apr-25-2003 04:31:

all the phones you guys mentionned are getting owned by the one and only SONY ERICSSON P800

it's a cell phone , PDA , has a camera , bluetooth etc ... you name it , it's there ! it costs around 650$ (US) now

as for the best "abordable" phone with the best options and stuff , the Sony Ericsson T68i owns them all (even the slow ass nokia 7210 that has menu trouble)

i have no place in this thread since i dont live in the US but i gotta say.. my phone ownz all these ive always found nokias ugly and rather bulky feeling... :-/ the sony erricson one looks rather nice but it still doesnt compare w/ most of the phones out in japan lol....

ok:

1. I hate Flip phones, so all of them are not even worth considering.

2. P800 - wasn't out in December and it's freaking huge. Also it's $695 without a contract at a good reseller, so you can probably get it for like $450-500 ish with contract. The 'writing utensil' is too smal and hard to remove/ reclip.. and there are tons of other issues.. nonetheless, it is a nice idea and i would like to see more phone going into its direction.

3. T68i - sorry mate, that thing is OLD. No Java, SMS writing is a MAJOR pain and it's slow as shite.

bottom line though: phones are a personal thing. If YOU like the T68i, go and buy it, as YOU must like your phone and nobody else.

I love my 7210. :P

Posted by fastmp3 on Apr-25-2003 05:12:

the T68i is more a pro phone that's why it has bluetooth and not java unlike the 7210 , and the keypad numbers aren't "weird" and hard to press you know what i'm saying greg yes the sms is slow as hell on the t68i but if you get the latest firmware it fixes the speed (not that much but it's an improvement) , as for the complicated 7210 menu don't get me started on it hehe also the "buzzing" sound on 50% of the phones (nokia told the customers to place the phone "more comfortably" on the ear to fix this problem).

Posted by cycloptor on Apr-25-2003 05:57:

cell arguements are the best. i love my t68i. bluetooth is amazing. but in all honesty its a matter of opinion and preference. although what i see from companys like ericsson, siemens, motorola and panasonic not to mention samsung or LG it'll be a while before i go back to a nokia.... i just pray that SE releases a new clam-shell phone for north america (or a tri-band one at least in europe so i can import it)

Posted by dj_mdma on Apr-25-2003 13:05:

Yah, its well annoying that the 7210 doesn't have bluetooth. BUT i have to say its was meant to replace the 7110, which it has succesfully done. Its competitor is the t68i, and of course both have their good and bad points. The 7210's standard colour looks a bit too "girly" for my liking, but it has got the game triple pop!

The P800 very similar in size to the 3650, and it has all the features that one could want. If only it wasn't so expensive!

Posted by SRP-ReAlign on Apr-25-2003 14:45:

I do not like the new phones at all. They are much too big. You are not able to put them into your pocket without feeling it all the time. I had the Nokia 7650 for about 4 months. But I sold it in order to buy me an "old" Siemens sl42. OK, making photos or small videos may be an interesting gimmick, but after a while you get bored of it and do not use it any longer. And the quality of the cameras are not worth to be mentioned. 0.3 Megapixels. Then I would prefer to buy a real DigiCam. Or a Palmtop if you should need something between cell phone and computer.

Posted by FastFashion on Apr-25-2003 14:54:

I so hate flip phones....how annoying they are when they are at the bottom of your Prada tote and you reach for it as the 5 ring goes off and then you finally grab it ...make the huge effort to flip it open only to see "1 MISSED CALL" RRRRRRAAR!

but I am not pro, I am 1337.. that is the difference. It took me a whole, 2 days to get used to the KB'd layout. The screen is bigger, looks nicer, the menu layout is fine, since you can use the number shortcuts.

the only thing I am still looking for is a Java ssh client so that I can finally ssh into my college e-mail when I am on the move.

but, as I mentioned, we cannot argue over cell phones. It's a personal choice. Just like arguing over color preference "black is better 'cause it's dark."
