Exclamation My Belief's in the Music Industry in 20-30 years time. ! please read

Ok , this has pondered my mind for a few hours, i presume everyone here listens to electronica music or at least 99% , now ok, electronica music is mainley focused around the youth age , very rarely your parents or grandparents will listen to Tiesto or Armin or whatever, they probabily havent even heard of them cause they think there is no talent there and is very rarely played on the radio due to whatever reasons, Trance is a very touchy area there are lots of producers out there producing new records and the industry needs this as the clubbing scene gets bigger every year, If you are a Trance hater then you must be into Gothic Music or POP, which is aimed at kids of course, as i don't see a 6yr listenning to Slip Knot or Armin, Or some other Music Genre. What makes me angry is that they exploit children to this top of the pops bullshit by showing every night, take for example , Las Ketchup Song, they must of spent 2 mins making that video, Personally i see a massive explosion in the music industry in like 20 years , theres going to be no POP music , just lots of different Music Genre's , As Technology gets better access to music is getting easier, they will be no downloading in 20 years time, everything will be digital radio will be digital and transmitted , esp with the mobile phone technology getting bigger, bands and groups wont be able making a penny in the shops and only live acts will be there source of income, record sales will decrease which should cut off the head of POP music.

Some interesting ideas there. I really dont think that 'pop' music will die, because there always has to be music to be played on mtv/top of the pops/radio etc - even if the sort of music that 'pop' is changes.

Here in the uk, at least - mid 90's pop was mainly boy/girl bands singing balads - plus the odd bit of cheesy synthy music (some Spice Girls songs, for instance). However, the kind of music that is being pushed by the radio/mtv/record labels - seems to have changed to rock music/rap etc. - that is in an acceptable mainstream form.

I'm talking about so called 'punk' bands, such as Blink 182 and Sum 41- who's sound is that is loosly based around punk - but its not too simular - and they are completely missing out on the message that early punk bands like say the Sex Pistols/Clash had.

You see 8 year old children wearing slipknot t-shirts - and i firmly believe that bands like slipknot really are what pop has become. People i know who really like more underground rock music think that slipknot are what we consider lasgo to be.

u got some great ideas there...some that i agree on too...pop will still be around though...with so many little kids gettin into it now, i doubt that it will ever go away...i believe that in the future artists will have to depend on somethin else than record sales to keep themselves alive...maybe not because of dlin mp3s, but like u said...technology is growin and they have to grow accustom...

music has, and always will diversify. In 20 years there will be even more genres. The big labels are losing money while the independent ones are raking it in. This will continue. As we envelop ourselves in an information age, music will be free. Bands will tour for money, and also earn money thru licensing.

This is why those of you with lil brothers or sisters should get them into trance. So that they don't grow up with the gay pop music. My lil sister is 8 almost 9 and she likes trance. I started her on it a couple years ago so it grew on her. She listens to dance and trance and then she'll listen to the radio which here is mostly composed of pop and hip-hop/r&b. Its pretty coo though when she comes in my room and i got trance on she starts dancin and stuff. Hell i jus figured she had to start sometime...
