kearney_and_joc_vs_revelx-exposure_icone_remix_

Hey all

I finally got to finish my Icone remix of JohnOC's tune. It's a rather driving tracks, with a neat buildup. I feel it might lack a bit of power in the main part, but it still drives enough I think.

Let me know what you think of it

wicked remix !!

I love the FX in that, and the percussion works very well. I see your point about the main section - I'm not sure exactly what it is - but there is a kinda drop in power there... still, great track, very crisp and polished!

oh and the piano was nice also

seems you are getting addicted to producing, wim..

great remix, love the build-up (for once i'm not bothered by the piano ). don't like the main melody, though, it starts off pretty cool, but the last 2 bars ruin it a little.. but that's not your fault.. the lack of power you talk about is not that significant, but might be due to the shuffled hats, dunno.. but it didn't bother me. just a lovely track..

Smiley DJ

Another amazing track . I love the piano , sound is nicely balanced & I wouldn't say it lacks power , it's perfect the way it is .

if you do then thats sum wicked hands you have there!!!

I absolutely agree.

Lightworks, you are getting closer to the level of the greats like M.I.K.E. and Yves. But please change the melody to something more pleasing to the ear, and dramatic. The last chord in the melody, especially, doesn't sound good.

Otherwise, it's AWESOME - I loved in the intro! A question: How many bass layers do you use? (You have the main bassline, and also I think you have a bass-synth on top of it.)

I love all your Icone Productions, Top Level in my opinion

you have that cool clean sound all over this track.

can't help that melody mate, sorry bout that

i think i've used two bass layers in this one, like you said a driving bassline and a bassy synth on top of it.

glad you like it, thx for the comment!

Hehe

Well, the best thing you can do is to explore every little 'gap' there is in your FL program, the little things that can be really helpful.
All that and loads of practice can make a good track... Which doesn't happen over one day of course. Many people might have seen me evolve in making trance music

Cheers,
LW

great work...
I absolutely dig every element of your track....

but the last few chords do sound wierd musically
G G# A A etc...

I think you should go with something like
G F E A etc...

just a suggestion

Posted by Icone on Apr-29-2003 11:16:

Thx mate

I'll suggest it to John, nothing I can do about it really... It is the melody of the track as it is

cheers,
LW

i haven't had a chance to dl then song, but if the melody is that big of a problem, you can change the melody. there are many remixes of tracks where either the two remixes of the track have different melodies, or the remix has a different melody than the original:
Marc dawn - Expander (original)/(flutlicht remix)
Apoptygma Berzerk - Kathy's song (ferry 12" remix)/(Matt Silver vs Tony Bert Remix)
MIKE vx John OO Flemming - Ice Cream (Original)/(MIKE Remix)
Sound of Overdose - City 2 City (Scott Project Remix)/(SHOKK Remix)

As long as the melody is somewhat able to be discerned from the original piece, like, a root chord of each measure or something, things should be ok.

gareth : thx alot!

nic : i'll take note of that, i'll see what i can do.

LW

ok, here we go... overall nice sound.. i just dont like this kind of mixing... too harsh for me, the main melody is kinda weak, and when it ends its a sudden drop of energy, i would add a synth that fills that gap there... its nice...

Posted by Icone on Apr-30-2003 16:55:

pity if you don't like it mate, but thx for the comment nonetheless
