3 Arrested in MP3 Raids

Three arrested in MP3 raids
Simon Hayes
APRIL 23, 2003

AUSTRALIAN Federal Police have arrested three people as part of an investigation into alleged music piracy on the internet.

The three - who are understood to be students - were arrested as police executed warrants at four Sydney addresses this morning.
A Federal Police spokesman confirmed the three had been arrested. Police are considering whether charges will be laid.

Australian IT understands the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged piracy, co-ordinated by the Federal Police and the recording industry.

Last month Federal Police executed search warrants at Telstra and Perth-based ISP Eftel, along with several other ISPs which have not been identified. No wrongoing was attributed to the ISPs.

Not much information, i wonder if its true or just being used as a 'scare' tactic?

just quietly, perhaps federal police should work on stopping the people that press multiple burnt cds then sell them at swap meets for dollars a pop.

piracy would "hurt" companies half as much if they focused on taking out the big fish.

But.... wouldn't that require some degree of intelligence?

'mp3 raids'! hahah... I find that concept rather amusing. Don't the federal police have anything better to do with their time? Shouldn't they be concerning themselves with, dare I say, more serious crimes?

It just seems so pointless to me. for fuck's sake, 'mp3 raids'. That's pathetic...

Great their busy doing mp3 raids, now I can participate in gang rapes, robberies and murders all around Australia with no one to track me down.

All the pigs do here is catch speeding motorists, the nearest police station is 15 miles away and half the time they have to ask u for directions to your town cos they're stupid

Also 2 of my towns 'loyal cops' were sacked last week for coming onto a 15 year old girl, police, what police ?

It's Bob Hawke, the greatest prime-minster ever! What else needs to be said!

Posted by JooB on Apr-28-2003 10:22:

Thumbs up

Carn` Bobby Hawke! Not sure if anyone saw the cricket a few years ago, with the camera panning over to Mr Hawke sculling a pint infront of a few proud yobbos - what a true leader! Besides, that facial expression he has makes me laugh regularly too.
